This week, I leave my role as Community Participation Coordinator @camunivmuseums.bsky.social Thank you to my colleagues in the University and wider community working tirelessly across the town-gown web. I've been a Cambridge resident for 20 years and never felt more connected with my local area.

This #BogDay seems apt to announce that I am starting a PhD @york.ac.uk in September with @anthropocenebio.bsky.social and the Department of Archaeology. I will be researching the past ecology of the North Yorks Moors and using this evidence to explore views about the future landscape #MoorViews 🪧

I found a cut gemstone in the gravel at a garden centre café aged 5. My grandparents handed it in to lost property but werre told that I could keep it. It was later set in a ring and it's still the best 'treasure' I ever found and one of my most prized possessions.

An inspiring term at primary school spent learning about the Romans, Anglo-Saxons & Vikings, with lots of story-telling, making and creativity. Combined with my love of Usborne history books, and sealed by a (smelly) visit to Jorvik!

Saying “we will never know” (but here is what I think, and why) is the most powerful thing. It says, we can’t be sure, what do you think? A 7 year old child hearing it might think to themself, I can work that out. And maybe, one day, they will

"Perhaps heritage is not a finished narrative to be passed down - but a living commons we are still co-writing ...
What might it mean to centre belonging, not just buildings? To honour voices as much as artefacts? To treat culture not as something to be managed - but as something that empowers?"

How a £1.5bn ‘wildlife-boosting’ bypass became an environmental disaster A14 in Cambridgeshire promised biodiversity net gain of 11.5%, but most of the 860,000 trees planted are dead. What went wrong?

“the failure of the environmental improvements created in mitigation for the A14 are an example of how powerful developers make environmental pledges to gain planning permission, which are then not upheld”
