For example, a relatively easy platforming level all of a sudden, having an extremely tight jump or complex item abuse set-up. I enjoy both of those things when they feel consistent with the rest of the level.

I think inconsistency is a big one, both in terms of a trick being inconsistent due to spawns or some other jank as well as being inconsistent within the context of the level or hack itself.

In my experience, the levels that I have enjoyed/remember the most have been massive grinds. The feeling of working towards a goal that at the beginning seems insurmountable is why I fell in love with kaizo.
