There's a critical distinction to be made here. The article is about housing for "extremely low-income renters", and how Houston isn't great for them. But Houston is affordable for the rest of the income spectrum, and also for buyers

Terrible article. Pharmacare has been shown to save the country money on healthcare spending. Pharmacare is exactly what we should be doubling down on, for the sake of the economy.

Definitely there are solutions. If our politicians ever got serious about immigrating skilled Americans, they could mount a housing plan like in the post war period to solve this problem, and there are many ways to do that, including your example

The major problem I think is the severe housing shortage. Immigrating Americans in general would be a great way to counter tariff threats, but housing is a problem
