Yes, that boardwalk, and there is a bench in that approximate location. Be it known that I did not kick anyone off the bench to get my shot. It was during my analog days, so I'll probably have to take a pic of the pic to post it. ;

Well, I admit as a child to using a special technique to break the tip while grinding, thus justifying more grinding. The best sharpener was right next to the teacher's desk.

Nowadays, yes, it's difficult to find a good wood and graphite pencil, even more so if expecting a functional eraser.

There's nothing as pleasurable as grinding a pencil down to nubbin. I can recall my 2nd grade teacher chastising me for 'taking all day to sharpen one pencil'.

trump is especially against imported or colored pencils.
