@ealinglibdems.bsky.social leader @cllrgarymalcolm.bsky.social raised an urgent question about how the Ealing children’s centre cuts fly in the face of government policy. The portfolio holder responded by attacking the Lib Dem group.

I asked how much Ealing Borough Community Infrastructure Levy funding will go towards “Your Voice Your Town”. The portfolio holder admitted that amounts will be “modest” for the first three years.

My Lib Dem ward colleague @conniehersch.bsky.social and I proposed a motion calling for an independent inquiry into the Lammas Park SuDS scheme fiasco. A sound idea but implemented shockingly badly with large parts of the park fenced off for two years.

We have to bring the welfare bill down and support more people into work - but you don’t do that by slashing support for disabled people.

The Government need to tackle long mental health waiting lists and the crisis in social care which keep people out of work.

It's clear that the majority of Brits now support a UK-EU Youth Mobility Scheme, including my constituents in Epsom & Ewell. 🇬🇧 🤝 🇪🇺

Spent the afternoon knocking on doors in Walpole ward listening to residents with @mattmellor.bsky.social, @cllrgarymalcolm.bsky.social, Craig O’Donnell and William Francis. The issue that came up most often was the SUDS scheme that has closed much of Lammas Park for so long.

Many say that Labour-run Ealing Council have messed up the SUDS scheme in Lammas Park.

We believe Ealing Labour need to get the basics right- such as managing our parks properly.

Wet and windy Walpole today. Took the opportunity to show @CllrGaryMalcolm the state of Lammas Park and why local residents think it is so important that the next planning application goes to Committee for public discussion/oversight and not just determined by Council officers.

Last year my wife had her blue badge stolen which had a massive impact on her independence. But she is not the only one. In 2023, 473 people had their blue badge stolen in Ealing. This has prompted my first ever petition. Please sign.

Ministers say they’re looking everywhere for growth but are ignoring what is staring them in the face.

The Government is happy to negotiate with China but won’t even look at a better trading arrangement with our closest neighbours in Europe. This is an act of economic negligence.

It is time for a proper UK-EU customs arrangement so we can cut the red tape on our businesses and grow our economy.

A new UK-EU Customs Union, would turbo-charge Britain’s economy.

We can be far more positive and ambitious.

That is how we can protect our economy, defend European security, and deal with President Trump from a position of strength, not weakness.
