Emily Maitlis brags about her, Deb Cohen, and Hannah Barnes getting the Tavistock GIDS service shut down.

The existence of trans people is not an "ideology", BBC. It is a reality and one which Parliament has recognized.

(Entirely typical of the BBC that, confronted by a populist right attack, they will show willing by dumping on trans people. Weak with the strong, strong with the weak, as always.)

I stayed up 26 hours on Thursday and Friday, trying to read and then write a precis on a text, and one of the only things that actually helped me read a text was imagining the voice of Harlan Ellison reading the text in my head, it was slower than my ostensible reading speed, but it worked a little

How many times are Labourites going to go through the cycle of perking up when Starmer makes one vaguely anti Reform statement to the Guardian, only to deflate as soon as Mahmood announces her latest nasty migrant bashing policy?

It seems to be a weekly cycle at this rate ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Tiny detail: it was 2008. The bill passed the Commons select committee stage in 2005.

Hereโ€™s me celebrating the passage of the Act in 2008 (back row) and at the opening of the line in 2022.

At the Act celebration party, Keith Berryman joked that Crossrail was first put forward as a scheme in 1904!

Sonia Sodha, Emily Maitlis, Helen Joyce and Hannah Barnes have all had their say in the media in the last 24 hours.

The thing is Sonia is not wrong, there is a huge amount of institutional and ideological capture on "the sex and gender issue", it's just that she's so utterly radicalised that she has failed to realise that it's very much in favour of her side.

The BBC is tearing itself apart to appease publications and politicians who want to see it die.

An absolutely kamikaze approach to running a media organisation. I can't see it ending well.

On Donald Trump's attack on the BBC this PM, Lib Dem Leader Ed Davey:

"Itโ€™s easy to see why Trump wants to destroy the worldโ€™s number one news source. We canโ€™t let him.

"The BBC belongs to all of us here in the UK.

"The PM [and others] should be united in telling Trump to keep his hands off it."

Itโ€™s ironic but predictable that the BBC duo -who tried so hard to please the right wing papers-are removed by the right wing papers.

I had my disagreements with the BBC under Tim Davie but he was a decent man doing a difficult job.

To see Trump's White House claiming credit for his downfall and attacking the BBC should worry us all.

I was reflecting earlier - having rewatched the Mr Bean section of the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony (which is perfect in many ways) - how Britain really hasn't experienced much of a sustained, unifying feelgood factor since then.

The words "FIX YOUR HEARTS OR DIE" placed over David Lynch's face (a still from TWIN PEAKS THE RETURN).

I feel like we have the opportunity to turn David Lynch's quote into this moment's "Keep Calm and Carry On" and it's a far better rallying cry too.

Labour are an absolute disgrace on every conceivable level.
