I'll believe it when I see it. Trump has crossed so many lines and angered so many groups of people, and even staged a violent coup attempt at the US Capitol. Even at his lowest point post-J6, you couldn't get more than 7 Republican senators to convict him. Why would they act differently now?

If you watch Fox News, remarks like these from Trump are always sanitized and made to be less inflammatory. A large portion of his supporters don't even know about the dozens of vile things he says and does every day. It's more about the media (traditional and social) at this point than Trump.

Social media has fried so many people's brains. And he didn't have much of one to start with..

So Twitter/X is basically just Truth Social now. All the Hot Truths there right now agree with Based Mike Lee.

The problem is, a retired general who criticizes Trump immediately becomes a "far-left woke lunatic who has TDS." Anyone who criticizes Trump isn't a real soldier, just like anyone who defended the Capitol on 1/6 isn't a real cop.

I'm sure when Trump crosses the exact, proper Rubicon that is the perfectly triangulated, means-tested point at which it's officially a Red Line, the people Trump hand-picked to be his top generals will stand up and push back against Trump's shredding of the Constitution. But not a moment before.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of Trump supporters who aren't even aware of most of the bad/shady/dirty things Trump is doing or has done, so yeah, I do think there are some who might at least put their MAGA ballcaps in a shoebox in the closet over something like this. Not many, but still..

As a card-carrying hater of Donald Trump from even before he became president the 1st time, it's easy to believe someone tried to assassinate Trump because all the evidence says that's what happened. Is it really that hard to believe that one of the most disliked people in world history got shot at?

Spot on. The main reason Democrats can't convince large swathes of the public that they're better on the economy is that there is an entire right-wing media infotainment sphere dedicated to spreading propaganda about how Democrats are socialists or Marxists who want to destroy the economy.
