Mom passed peacefully this morning at 8:34 am surrounded by me and the girls and her younger brother.

My niece cat Pippa Joy slept all night on the foot of Mom’s bed.

She did say this to me last week.♥️ I’ve rarely been happier to hear any words. 😊 I love you too, Maa.

uncle was related to us. It’s of my mom’s mom and maternal grandmother. My Grandma Noah is on the left. My Granny Thelma Mayhall is on the right. Grandma Noah apparently has amazing red hair—and as you can see lots of it.

I instantly start balling just like I did back in January of 2021 when I thought that we were going to lose Mom to a perforated bowel. I heard it back then in the shower and I did that sink down crying in the shower thing that’s a trope in movies and television. Corny but true. Here I am today:

Hi…our mom has been very ill and she is home on hospice and will transition soon. As we prepare for her memorial service, we would love to have stories, remembrances, words of appreciation for how she impacted your life.

My sister just called the hospice. Please keep Mom in your thoughts and prayers.

She’s got a lot of literal fight left in her. She moves with surprising quickness for a somnolent person going through the literal process of dying. You got to dodge quick unless you want to catch them hands.

We have all decided against even trying to get her to dialysis tomorrow. Getting her there would be so potentially traumatic and scary for her and ultimately delaying the inevitable. She can’t help us move her. Even though she cannot walk, her arms are curiously strong.

Living 1,000 miles away, I pop in and out of Mom’s life, but one or both of them have been by her side for years. I hope before the end she won’t be upset at us, but I’m preparing for the worst. She had been hiding dementia from us (and herself) for some time and her multiple illnesses including

She’s sleeping 22-23 hours a day and refusing meds, food, and water. For some reason she won’t talk to her children, but will talk to complete strangers. I know not to take it personally, but it’s still very upsetting for us. Especially my sisters who have devoted so much to Mom’s care.
