mass timber single stair tower in france, with family sized homes

this building is 166% taller than seattle allows, and a whopping 433% taller than current 'international' building code in US allows.

also note the spiral stair. also illegal.

Hey, what’s up Nashville!? We’re trying out the WeGo Airport Express (18) today. We’ll see how ambitious I am about posting as we go, but you can count on a trip summary outbound and inbound on this thread.

Scientists Expose How Housing and Commutes Steal Sleep City living’s hidden cost: long commutes and small homes are quietly stealing your sleep.

I think we all intuitively know that long commutes mean less sleep and poorer health outcomes. Researchers in Japan measured it, and a commute longer than 52 minutes is as bad as insomnia.

Building our city for long commutes is literally hazardous to our health.

Just so we’re clear on what’s happening.

The beauty of local politics is that it is nonpartisan-we can debate issues on merits & not like we’re opposing SEC teams. Sadly, not everyone feels that way these days.

Extremely incorrect. The new zoning designations would only affect parcels they are applied to.

Nashville’s homelessness problem is a housing problem - one of choice. Rising housing costs force our most vulnerable residents onto the streets

Single-stair changes to boost housing in Nashville
YouTube video by WKRN News 2 Single-stair changes to boost housing in Nashville

In case you hadn't heard, Nashville became the 3rd largest US city to allow single stair buildings up to 6 stories in July πŸ‘

Congrats to Nashville, and @rollinhorton.bsky.social for showing our cities what kinds of changes we can make all over!

TL:DR- WeGo is doubling Walk Bike's QuickTicket rate and gave three weeks notice to come up with $20,000 in additional renewal fees. This program should be celebrated and replicated but instead, we're having to pause it. The WeGo Ride program can be great but the current structure is not sustainable

Have you emailed councilmembers@nashville.gov to tell them you support more housing in Nashville lately?

If not, there is a great opportunity to do that TODAY in regards to the Nations UDO and rezoning plan. 🦞

New Housing Slows Rent Growth Most for Older, More Affordable Units The nationwide housing shortage has driven rents up more in low-income neighborhoods than in the U.S. overall, but in areas that have recently added large amounts of housing, rents have fallen the mos...

"Maintaining restrictive zoning that exacerbates the housing shortage puts vulnerable tenants in a more precarious position... Allowing enough homes for everyone improves affordability overall, but the evidence shows it benefits low-income renters most."

Even absent a gross decrease in price, it’s still valuable if we can slow the rise in the cost of housing to beneath the median rise in income, would still help make housing more affordable for people

31.07.2025 12:26 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

we really need a better approach for getting more housing other than increasing FAR and height and keeping setbacks

this results in really poor urban form, no space for community or trees, less privacy all around

seattle's low rise zone needs complete overhaul

It’s possible to grow and change and evolve together. It’s the only way forward if you care for your neighbors. Restricting the availability of a resource always has and always will benefit those with money and power the most.
