this building is 166% taller than seattle allows, and a whopping 433% taller than current 'international' building code in US allows.
also note the spiral stair. also illegal.
So nice in the neighborhood tonight!
09.10.2025 01:22 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hey, whatβs up Nashville!? Weβre trying out the WeGo Airport Express (18) today. Weβll see how ambitious I am about posting as we go, but you can count on a trip summary outbound and inbound on this thread.
06.10.2025 17:14 β π 20 π 4 π¬ 1 π 1I think we all intuitively know that long commutes mean less sleep and poorer health outcomes. Researchers in Japan measured it, and a commute longer than 52 minutes is as bad as insomnia.
Building our city for long commutes is literally hazardous to our health.

Just so weβre clear on whatβs happening.
The beauty of local politics is that it is nonpartisan-we can debate issues on merits & not like weβre opposing SEC teams. Sadly, not everyone feels that way these days.

cms Porterfield (AL2), Evans Segall (AL3), Parker (D5), Capp (D6), Welsch (D16), Vo (D17), Horton (D20), Gadd (D24), Preptit (D25), and Ewing (D34) voted for the prevailing candidate in each election

Nashvilleβs homelessness problem is a housing problem - one of choice. Rising housing costs force our most vulnerable residents onto the streets

In case you hadn't heard, Nashville became the 3rd largest US city to allow single stair buildings up to 6 stories in July π
Congrats to Nashville, and @rollinhorton.bsky.social for showing our cities what kinds of changes we can make all over!

TL:DR- WeGo is doubling Walk Bike's QuickTicket rate and gave three weeks notice to come up with $20,000 in additional renewal fees. This program should be celebrated and replicated but instead, we're having to pause it. The WeGo Ride program can be great but the current structure is not sustainable

Even absent a gross decrease in price, itβs still valuable if we can slow the rise in the cost of housing to beneath the median rise in income, would still help make housing more affordable for people
31.07.2025 12:26 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0we really need a better approach for getting more housing other than increasing FAR and height and keeping setbacks
this results in really poor urban form, no space for community or trees, less privacy all around
seattle's low rise zone needs complete overhaul
Itβs possible to grow and change and evolve together. Itβs the only way forward if you care for your neighbors. Restricting the availability of a resource always has and always will benefit those with money and power the most.
