So I’ve posted two consecutive posts mentioning petitions. One saying that 180,000 names didn’t produce change and another asking people to sign to produce change. 😵‍💫😂 At this point it’s hard to know how to produce change. Keeping trying for cleaner air and better infection control policy though. 🙂

Since 180,000 signatures on a petition to allow more flexibility in school attendance policies has apparently failed to sway the Gov or Dfe, it seems like it’s time to repost this from the Covid inquiry last week. Most absence is still illness related! Home Ed no’s are rising. Make it make sense.

While it’s true that children are on average, when compared to older adults, less likely to end up hospitalized from COVID (both during initial waves and now), children (including those without known health risk factors) absolutely can get severely sick from COVID

4th- Where are we now?

The current & shameful position is that measures in place are non existent/inadequate.

No #PublicHealth messaging
No specific #Guidance to schools
Failure to prioritise #CeanAir in #schools
No ongoing CYP #DataCollection
Inadequate #Healthcare
#Burden remains on families

3rd - Why was there such total inaction?

There could/should have been an approach to reopening schools that maximise their safety with effective use of NPI's - all 4 Govs knowingly left families uninformed/ unprotected from risk.

Jasper, our CO2 monitor, measures the quality of indoor air renewal. When you press its beak, it announces the measured CO2 level. The green color of its belly indicates excellent renewal. Jasper was created by students from the French engineering school CentraleSupelec.

If - of course - you can get them. No Covid vax for kids in the UK unless v vulnerable. Restricted no. getting the adult vax too from this Autumn ( 13 million people previously eligible for C19 vax have lost free vax unless they can pay almost £100 - and can find it in stock. 🙏for replying.

Certainly felt like that. The sad thing is that so much of the mess and suffering could have been avoided if people had been properly informed of transmission routes and had proper masks to wear - even if only in the meantime.

Interesting that the UK Covid Inquiry has been at pains to emphasise that younger children were -during what they consider to be a discrete Pandemic period - not highly susceptible to Covid. According to Russell Viner yesterday it’s counterintuitive but true. So is Covid the exception? Confused.

Q - Wd you agree the knowledge and understanding of Long Covid - which the Welsh Gov had from Autumn 2020 - should have been a consideration in the advice on decision making around schools?

A - I believe it is in this way - the best way to prevent Long COVID is to prevent COVID

Whitty repeated the same basic principle yesterday at C inquiry: ie we won’t treat it therefore won’t test for it (therefore we will ignore it). Shocking that BBC is going all out in support of what must surely be misinfo though given that the European heart organisations acknowledge C19 heart risk.

Parents were subjected to a propaganda campaign by the government which ran to prosecuting parents who didn’t comply, insisted (still insists) on sending sick children in and created a hostile environment to masks and downplayed risks. LC and illness is not normality. The messaging was atrocious.

So checking the air quality for my area on the Purple Air map this morning - it’s pretty good so far. Will nearby schools and businesses will crack open a window to celebrate?
