OMB has deleted the reference on its website to the 2019 law that mandates back pay to all federal workers who were not paid during a government shutdown. This is like when babies play hide and seek but only cover their eyes because if they can’t see you, you can’t see them.

THE SMASHING MACHINE is an indie Oscar vehicle, not a franchise tentpole, and the idea that Johnson needs to come out and explain why it didn't have a massive opening weekend is a sign that both celebrity culture and entertainment journalism have reached new levels of delusion.

Notice her non-answer.

This is explosive. Should be explosive. The US AG who said she had the Epstein files on her desk cannot say whether or not the FBI has pix of Trump with half-naked women, which one witness who knew Epstein has said he has seen.

Rutgers professor moving to Europe after threats over antifa accusations Mark Bray says threats intensified after a Turning Point USA petition accused him of promoting political violence

A Rutgers professor has been forced to flee the country for his safety, after targeting by a far-right student group that was *checks notes* claiming they felt unsafe.

I'm horrified.
I'm angry.

Every single thing about this story is the most brutally American shit possible and I mean that in a wholly derogatory way. Racism, fascism, carceralism, and capitalism all in a huge grotesque package.

Dems somehow lose the messaging war on pedophiles. Make this your entire platform. They're giving you SO MUCH MATERIAL. Literally say THEY WON'T SWEAR IN THIS WOMAN BECAUSE SHE WANTS TO RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES.

Hire me as your consultant. We will win. Stop hiring Adam Jentleson. He's an idiot.

Seems like if the administration had a strong legal theory for killing people in the Caribbean, they’d be willing to share it publicly.

I guess I shouldn't be *surprised* but it is making my head spin that the feds have shot two people, with live rounds, killing one of them, in Chicagoland in recent weeks, and in both cases they were very clearly found to be lying about what happened, and essentially nothing is happening about it.

Dressing up like a silly little guy is good because the optics of beating the shit out of silly little guys are generally awful. Even your TV-addled meemaw can understand it's bad when Pikachu gets curb stomped by the police.

Mike Johnson doesn’t think people should be paid for their work. That’s something the people of this nation might be interested in knowing.

From our rare books collection we have this illustration of Vampyroteuthis infernalis, also known as the vampire squid from hell. In an order of its own, we don't really think the vampiric moniker is fair either as they actually feed on detritus and not blood #EYAMonsters

I rag on DOJ lawyers. And they deserve it.

But one frequent & reliable red flag is when career DOJ lawyers won’t cooperate.

The Supreme Court wants to allow conversion therapy so that's why we have oral arguments in Chiles v. Salazar this morning.

The Supreme Court wanted to allow Christian people to refuse to serve queers, so that's why they issued an advisory opinion in 303 Creative v. Elenis.

Everything is rigged.

The court records show that the facts of the case are far worse than we initially reported. It was a "death investigation" into a "nonviable fetus," the police asked the district attorney if they could charge her for taking the pills. The search happened TWO WEEKS after she took the pills

This story is completely insane. After our first article, Flock and the police have aggressively asserted that the woman "was never under criminal investigation by Johnson County." Flock has used it as an example of "clickbait journalism" and its CEO has attacked the reporting multiple times

Police Said They Surveilled Woman Who Had an Abortion for Her 'Safety.' Court Records Show They Considered Charging Her With a Crime Court records show that the narrative Flock and a Texas Sheriff's Office has told the public isn't the whole story, and that police were conducting a 'death investigation' into the abortion.

🚨🚨 Both the police and Flock's defense for why Texas police searched the entire country for License Plate Reader data to find woman who had self-administered an abortion was because she was a missing person and family was concerned with her health. Now documents reveal they wanted to charge her.

NPR could easily fill a desperately needed public service for trustworthy legacy media, and likely easily meet its own small dollar fundraising goals after having its federal funding pulled, by simply describing things as they are. But instead they choose to do whatever this is.

I am a proud supporter of well-run zoos and aquariums. They’re vital partners for science, conservation, and public support for both.

The Miami SeaQuarium- which was for many years home to the β€œworld’s loneliest orca”- was a disaster.

It shuts down forever this weekend.

I won’t miss it.

What would 4chan do with this?

And then you must - at bare minimum - plan for that.

Ellison's CBS brought on the two editors that got NYT to publish Tom Cotton's 2020 op-ed calling for soldiers to shoot protesters in the streets. Hard to find a clearer editorial throughline than "anyone protesting murder by the state should be killed for it."
