10.08.2025 22:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thatβs what is weird to me - she is truly a believer, right? In the same way Hank and John are believers in their causes, even if it hurts other endeavours
10.08.2025 09:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Coolio, yeah! That is still not the easiest problem
Do you want the server side to be sth in rust or python or sth, or a whole TypeScript stack? Or like, a, βif I donβt have to worry about that, it would be coolβ
Wanna come to the next c3 congress in hamburg between the years? youβd enjoy nerding there!
09.08.2025 10:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I do this if I also want to repost it. I like giving context to me 0.5 followers

Because webdev seems insane without that context, Iβm very aware of that fact
09.08.2025 10:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Also, I saw a like 2hr video of taoding completely miss the point of react and other webdev frameworks
So, if you want, I can give you a 2-3 paragraph primer on like βwhy is reactβ and βthe one problem all web ui frameworks try to solveβ (itβs state management and βreactiveβ UIs)
Just for context
Also, if youβre trying out react, just to get you in the right mindset: itβs a mix of fp (you write code that takes in props and state, and returns some html) and normal imperative programming via event handlers and effects, where you mutate state
Itβs weird, but you can get used to it!
If you have any other things you wanna think ahead before, super duper happy to help. Webdev stuff I actually know!
09.08.2025 10:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A bit late for me, canβt join :( But yeah, if you wanna prepare with sth, and stuff - happy to help :)
For modern web dev stuff, make sure you have node installed ahead of time (nvm is great). Thatβs just a requirwment.
Opinion: vite is really pleasant to develop with (live reload on save, <50ms!)
Move out now mamdani. Move into these two bedroom apartments in the same neighborhood that cost 400 dollars more a month. A woman and her CHILD are on the line

Was the latter. Being unmotivated is a separate thing from adhd paralysis
Iβm affirming that. Like, speaking a 2nd or 3rd language is valuable.
I speak 3 (though my french has gotten worse), and am learning a fourth.
Sorry if that didnβt come through, Iβm sometimes* bad at communicating.
* often
Iβm only speaking for myself and extrapolating from there
04.08.2025 18:05 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0But yeah, there are many languages where LLMs and other machine translation tools arenβt great still
04.08.2025 17:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0All of them can use it! LLM translations are far from perfect, and everyone saying otherwise is lying.
But theyβre good enough for a lot of cases. Other stuff, not so much.
I wouldnβt want to read an AI translation of a novel. But for a simple product description? Menu at reataurant? Sure
Hm, I think an understandable metaphor is like, image generation: a LLM can help programming in the same way it can help you create images:
If youβre very bad, it can give you something that kinda maybe looks right? And if youβre good, it might be faster if you need a sketch, though worse.
I *am* scared of some subways, admittedly. Like, itβs weird to carry a $2000 laptop from my company on my back while next to me someone is injecting themselves with drugs.
Me no likes.
I still think subways should be expanded significantly, though! Like, I love subways. But sometimes Iβm afraid.
It is one of these things that has an outsized influence, right? So yeah, I do think jewish people having a conversation about the isreali state with each other is important.
My goal is super simple: whatβs the most effective way for less people to die? And for that, this convo is important af
Yeah, but if every single jewish person I followed was like βhey, palestinians are evilβ then Iβd have a much harder time supporting them.
It is only because people I already followed before who happened to be jewish (in many cases I didnβt even know) supported palestine, I felt comfortable w/ it
Understandable. I have seen that non-programmers can create things that approximate programming.
I have not observed a skilled programmer suddenly gaining any new capabilities with ai
Translation is one thing LLMs have a technolgical advantage (seemingly), and people are starting to use them a lot for this. No advertisment needed.
This is also something she mentioned seeing.
(Also, for reference, I'm bilingual, trilingual if you count my bad french, and 4 if awful ζ₯ζ¬θͺ counts)
(she's really good at Japanese, as you can imagine), and she translated it at 2pm as well - she made the same mistake. It was 2am, and she was like "oh, of course, context"
Anyway, I compared all three in more detail, and ChatGPT was the best. Of course, human would be better
But yeah, point is:
And it said people should evacuate from "2:00"
GT translated it as "2pm", which is wrong, it was 2am in context. DeepL went for the conservative 2:00, and ChatGPT got 2am presumably from context (it guessed that consistently)
I showed it to the (human) international coordinator for the prefecture
