Really not appreciating the commercial I just saw for Perdue chicken strips where the mom is like "I'm giving my daughter these nice crispy chicken strips even though she doesn't deserve it."

Right, because only "good" children deserve a "quality" meal.

I was expecting to see lots of K Pop Demon Hunters, but I think the prevailing persona of the night may been Ghostface.

I wonder if it would have been different at a Trunk or Treat event, since we definitely had a lot of teenagers.

Having done the math with how much candy we had to give away, and what we had left over: It's possible we did have the 750 visitors my co-worker said she usually gets.

It was definitely an experiment, but one we are very much looking forward to repeating next year.

Had our first chance at trick or treaters in our new place.

We didn't keep track, but we had at least a couple hundred show up. We managed not to run out of stuff to hand out, and were the last ones to close up on our block.

Definitely don't recommend vertigo as a personal balance experience.

Genuinely thought I was having some sort of episode this morning, to the point of going to the walk-in clinic.

Apparently now I have exercises to do to realign a crystal.

And no more sleep for me, after dreaming I purposely loosened and then extracted my upper incisors and some extras.

I was watching myself do this in a mirror, but it was happening like if you were extracting a splinter. I'm sure that's always what teeth pulling is like.

Feeling better and better about our household strategy of getting ahead on Christmas presents and trying to stay as local is possible. We have a lot of DIY ahead of us, but compared to the alternative, it feels like a decent tradeoff.

I'm beginning to feel I was tricked into continuing Act 3 of Silksong. GMS was not a hard fight for me, possibly due to my recent encounter w/ the First Sinner, but the Abyss is just kicking my ass; everything I've learned has just vanished from my muscle memory. Platforming can go diaf.

Definitely true of our local protest today.

We were both worried on our way there, but once we were around the group that anxiety dissipated pretty quickly.

I played in a basically impromptu street band at our protest today. I don't think the organizer anticipated such a warm reception, or a decent turnout.

Hopefully it will be a presence at future assemblies. #NoKings

It's taken me over a month, but I finished Act 2 of Silksong yesterday; I'm just not ready to deal with Act 3 yet.

And after all my fretting about Grand Mother Silk it wasn't too bad? I loathe that "git gud" is a requirement for this game, but at least it's enjoyable enough to be worth the hours?

I wrote a little bit about the 400th episode of Says Who podcast, a show that was supposed to last 8 episodes, and the power of making things with your friends. dansinker.com/posts/202…

We were so excited to move somewhere we could hand out candy, especially since we're in a development so we'll probably see lots of kids. Then we went to stock up on on the candy.

I have a coworker who said she gives out 1500 pieces (2 per kid) idk how she'll finance that this year.

I hope it wasn't the same entity who invited a spider the size of a fifty cent piece into our living room this morning. The timing of these events makes me suspicious.

I spent all weekend searching for my wallet, even yesterday, it was still missing. What should magically appear in the place I swear I searched a half dozen times before?

This is when I reconsider putting a tracker on the damn thing, but they've never worked consistently enough to justify it.

We just lived this 2 months ago. We got lucky, in that family had a pile of diaper boxes they were planning to get rid of. Our 3 bookshelves mostly fit into those. AND I almost managed to keep them in order (except our nonfiction section, which may never recover).

So, I was super confused about this whole thing, and then I found out who is starring in the production. I'm not all surprised it would have been received poorly by some people.

I'm also wishing there were some way for me to attend a performance. I only read the play in a college lit course.

One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced β€”and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it

I'm sure that's not a big deal in any way, shape, or form.

We are at the end of our tomato ripening venture. Rudy has finally decided to just accept their presence on the windowsill, and use them to his benefit.

My wife and I have walked into the bathroom to find her partial container open at least twice in the last 24 hours.

I managed to catch the culprit in action. She made me wait almost 3 minutes before she finally went for it. Such a silly baby.

I also have advice. Everybody loves reading advice on the computer, so I'll share it: the best thing you can do right now is log off as hard as you can. Go outside, talk to people in real life where it's actually kind of rude to talk about the news, try to actually see the friends you usually just text message. Go for a long drive and turn the phone off while you do it. Get back into your hobbies or pick one and learn it for a while. Watch one of those studio movies that reviews called "wildly miscalculated" and you haven't seen since high school. Play an album you like but find embarrassing. Go to free community events even if they sound stupid. If you take the freeway, try the surface streets. Go to a bad diner and just order some bad coffee because even bad coffee is good coffee.
You can't help anybody when you're exhausted and keep posting one million college-educated rewordings of "I would love to be dead right now" on the computer. Walk away from the thing and try out some of those normal things you hear about and if you get bored that's wonderful because we're not supposed to get bored anymore. It turns out boredom is the Cadillac of feelings.
