Social media gets me down sometimes.

I try and repost one or two posts a day on both of my accounts, but not getting any signs people actually like it plus seeing a lot of posts complaining about reposts just makes me think I should stop trying.

Decided to put a bit of focus on my #landscape #art and concentrating on using just big brushes on a small canvas to stop me getting fussy.

I have a long road to get to where I’d be happy with these - all the more reason to paint!!

SELAKYR Pink hues of skin - teal/blue/purple hair Shorter than humans, various body types. One of the newest species, advancing in only a few millennia. They do not sleep but have short lifespans. Eager to make the most of their time, they have made quick progress. Once they learned space travel they were quick to spread out and explore. The Collective quickly included the Selakyr more as a means to slow down and make use of the unlimited energy of the novice species. The Selakyr homeworld orbits around 2 twin suns with 3 other planets. The other planets - burnt husks are roasted from the suns energy. The barren planets orbit in such a way to tidally lock the smaller planet, turning it into a unique healthy oasis with no shortage of sustenance. Selakyr have a unique quirk that is one of their greatest strengths and weakness - each individual will latch on and hyper-fixate on a specific subject to the point of extreme obsession. It varies for each individual ranging from skills involving fuel efficiency in their space craft, sculpting their body for peak physical strength, or the simple collection of various gastropod shells. Most Selakyr gather in social communities with music and art as the focus to stave off loneliness when the rest are sleeping. Many Selakyr filter into entertainment from these collaborative events. Other species see the Selakyr as experts in their respective fields and also the butt of many jokes. Their short 30-40 year lifespans make the other species leery to be more than acquaintances.

Selakyr and hybrid Lore: Very rarely a Human male and Selakyr female will produce a child. Because of the short lifespans of the Selakyr, most human/Selakyr interactions are brief flings, so most hybrid children are rare and complete surprises. They have a mix of each species characteristics but notably have the longer lifespans of a human and a need to sleep. For Selakyr, they age rapidly then stay at an adult until their lifespan comes to an end, getting increasingly sleepy. Once they fall asleep their bodies shut down and they quietly pass way. The Selakyr having a "open for entertainment" community - fun and friendly but only on the surface. They tend to keep outside species away from the more communal civilian areas. They stick together strongly as no other cultures wants to have close relationships with such a short lived species. Hybrids are majorly raised in Selakyr communities with the mother, and face multiple cultural challenges. Mothers have a tough time with a child that needs sleep. Something completely alien to them. Takes many months for them to not think their child will pass away each time they lay them down. Then the added burden of raising a child that to them never ages. Nervousness and Guilt that they may pass away before their child is even ready to support themselves. Since they age like humans, hybrids also have a hard time maintaining close friendships as their childhood friends will be fully grown and on their own within 7-10 (human) years. As they grow they also have a tough time balancing a sleep schedule in a society that runs in high gear 24/7. With lots of lights, noise and a populace that does not understand, a good nights sleep is near impossible. As they get older, they never really feel like they belong and soon all their close family and friends will be gone and they are nothing but a stranger left behind.

Shaelyn Pale pink/purple skin with dark lavender eyes. Dark purple hair with a white streak on the forehead, a side effect of being a hybrid. She is taller then the average Selakyr. With gages in her ears, a septum piercing, eyebrow, navel and nipple piercings. Shaelyn was raised solo by her mother, who dropped everything to care for her. Her mother has a kind and loving appearance but when things got hard, resentment and bitterness sometimes trickled out. Upfront and honest about her heritage from a young age, Shae was never told who her father was, besides that he was a human. Her mom telling her when she was older that there were many humans and didn't know where to start. Like most hybrids, her childhood friends grew up started their own familys and moved on. Leaving her to try and make new friends matching her current age only for them to grow apart just as fast. Around her mid-teens Shae grew depressed, staying inside and just keeping to herself. Her mother desperately pushed her to get out more. Shaelyn attempted to hide her hybrid heritage and dyed her white streak, used makeup to look more pink and tries to act like a "normal" Selakyr. She eventually joined social groups and took part time jobs. Quitting or disappearing when people found out about her heritage. As she gets to her early 20s she starts to branch out from the familiar and puts herself out there and ends up with a renewed sense of confidence in herself. But now her mother is showing signs that her life cycle is coming to an end. Shaelyn enjoys human entertainment and culture. She has aspirations to visit Earth and experience things first hand. She hopes to one day find her father and connect more with her other half.
