I think I cannot blame the KNY for all of it, the manga has huge legibility issues that are impossible to fix onscreen

This. Instead of helping selfpub authors (like the gurus said it would) AI is ruining chances for writers who might have been scammed by designers who swore it was all human made. At this point not everyone have the tools/literacy to spot it & readers won't touch you if you have been connected to AI

Seeing @pdjeliclark.bsky.social tonight in the Sui Generis festival in Madrid. Which is very serendipitous since this is the next novel I've picked for my speculative fiction book club πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

Please help a TCD posgrad couple looking for a LGBTQ+friendly apartment or apartmentshare/houseshare in/near Dublin. They've stayed at my place and I can vouch for them 100%

Please pass around all your networks. Message me to be put in touch.

We don't appreciate Allison Anders enough. Gas food lodging is still my idea of the perfect American indie

Which is weird to me because it's a magazine with quite nice standards (I was browsing the guidelines to send something's because I've enjoyed it as a reader)

You wrote an incredible book. I am being very annoying about it to anyone in my vicinity because such a wonder of a bookthing needs shouting about from the rooftops. I want to say congrats on it but actually what I really want to do is kiss your brain

Submissions guideline page for an online magazine. Under the section "What we don't want" it says "While we don't like to set hard, fast rules form our interests and the creativity of our potential writers, we've found that reading a story in the present tense can be very jarring"

Magazines with submission guidelines where they come down so hard on one tense/pov/syntax or grammar model fascinate me. A tense seems like such a wide thing to "outlaw". I for one, find the anglosphere's insistence that the past tense sounds "more literary" very jarring

It's the meme, isn't it? Sybil shooting other countries and then going "Why would non-Sybil societies do this to themselves?" πŸ˜…πŸ˜… The people who made Psycho Pass really know imperialist tactics, uh

That mostly but I think there's also a part of lack of confidence/wanting to be perceived as "legitimate", so that's why we unconsciously try to use other (more authoritative) voices when we communicate our ideas. White en are taught to believe every great idea is theirs even, the ones they stole πŸ™ƒ

Had a couple of conversations lately about how men do fewer citations than women* in their books/papers/podcasts. I think there are many reasons for this but they all make sense to me. I wish the epidemic in Linda Stuart's Virus was real, just saying

Maybe my own conspiracy theory but I feel a lot of the decline in prose of formerly capable writers (not those pivoting to het, just in general) come from editor's guidelines for simple prose
