15.07.2025 12:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not being admired while being allowed to print money doing the stupidest possible projects really seems to be the basis of a lot of their complaints. All the while they have been doing less and less funding of actually interesting things.
12.07.2025 16:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We're lucky in a way that this is done in musk's clumsy way, rather than more intelligently... But that's just a question of time / the AI's operator.
09.07.2025 19:55 β π 8 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0With the express fucking goal of counteracting the will of voters. I'm really just dumbfounded by that either not being mentioned at all or just mentioned in an aside, in the second to last paragraph.
12.06.2025 21:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Don't just talk about the attack on Padilla, also talk about the authoritarian BS that Noem was uttering: "liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that the governor and the mayor have placed on this country."
12.06.2025 21:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The attack on Padilla was really bad - but Noem's statements at that presser (βliberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that the governor and the mayor have placed on this country.β) is *WAY* *WAY* worse.
Please make sure to also push back against that.

I'm not so sure that Noem's authoritarian BS will reach that many. Try finding it in e.g. NYT's, WaPo's, SF Chronicle's articles about this. It's mentioned very far down by the NYT, not at all by the others.
12.06.2025 20:07 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Real press failing here. It's crucial that Padilla was roughly forced out in the context of a blatantly authoritarian statement by Noem. @washingtonpost.com doesn't mention Noem's statement, @nytimes.com only mentions it very far down, and not in the summary of the events.

This is very dangerous way to phrase the mission when regular US military forces are part of it. "Liberate" a major US city from its duly elected state and local officials? Utterly unacceptable language

They don't quite stand alone though...
Easy. Musk will offer Grok to argue cases. For the small price of an inheritable lordship.

30.04.2025 03:08 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't want to excuse that, but I do think that there is a somewhat innocent aspect (definitely not the only one!) to the Musk-the-great-industrialist story.
21.04.2025 22:40 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Lots of nerdy tech folks grew up fascinated (in a naive / good way) with space exploration. There hadn't been anything exciting/non depressing post space shuttle. To this day I have SV acquaintances that see Musk's awfulness and have a hard time balancing that with getting out of that situation.
21.04.2025 22:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think there's a granule of truth there that parts of today's online left sometimes forgets. If you compare pre/post-spacex space stuff, you see a truly remarkable shift in the early 2010s. ULA (i.e. boeing) era US, and really world wide, space flight was depressing.

21.04.2025 22:19 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Noah also simply has no other job than being online after leaving Bloomberg and doing substack full time. Zero forced professional interactions that aren't just online stuff. No editor. Not that I want to excuse the crazy stuff, but I do think that's not a recipe for staying healthy.
