If you could line up my now deleted Tweets and my posts on here, you would notice a decline with how much I talk about DS9.

It’s like I’m protecting my enjoyment of the show by keeping a distance from it, just keeping it safe from the behaviour that I see online.

I don’t talk about DS9 as much anymore because I don’t want to see people come into my replies and use it to bash DSC or now SFA.

I love the show and I had Dax in my username for years, but it’s just not fun seeing a show I love being used in that way after everything it went through.

I got into Trek extremely young, but I remember the treatment that DS9 got and continued to get after the show ended.

I’m glad DS9 is celebrated and appreciated now, but seeing it being casually used as a weapon is just disgusting.

It was the most interesting season and the one with the most potential.

They will always be iconic!!

Those kinds of people in the first season were mainly focused on Mariner, they were seeing her as another “Mary Sue” and that she’s just like Burnham.

People complaining about how casual Captain Ake is behaving are so funny, because I would behave exactly the same way if I was hundreds of years old.

You realise what really matters and what doesn’t.

There’s been this weird belief that the Federation in classic Trek was always shown to be good and perfect, when in reality we saw that it was flawed multiple times. But it’s been used against most of the new shows at least once that they acknowledge it.

The way some of it is just very casually revealed too! 👀

SNW doesn’t really embrace DSC, it holds it at arms length most of the time, which is why there’s a belief that the show was intentionally crafted that way.

SFA signals that DSC was a success and it was doing something right, which anyone who was paying attention could see.

I think Captain Ake is going to end up being one of my favourite captains!

Part of the hostility towards Starfleet Academy is definitely because it’s a modern show, it’s focusing on young people, it’s doing something new.

But there’s absolutely vitriol that Discovery has a spin-off that not only embraces Discovery, but actively believes in what it stood for.

So much of what has been levied at the modern shows basically comes down to a simple grievance — Trek moved forward and they didn’t.

It actively offends them.

This isn’t new behaviour, we saw it with other classic shows, but now we get to see just how bad it is and just how ridiculous it gets.

With them briefly reintroducing Bajor in the first episode, having that Sisko display seen in one of the trailers… I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re building up to something! 👀⚾️
