I think there would be a big market for Netflix to put their series on Blu-ray too but I doubt they'd ever spring for it.

I think that Netflix owning WB will likely cause the death of physical media quicker than it will the death of theaters. That's the business I can see them wanting to get out of because it competes with them and they'd be really competing with themselves

I don't understand why they'd even need to make a box office release window shorter considering they themselves will be in control of who gets the streaming rights (them!), the bluray rights, even down to when it airs on actual linear HBO! They own it all top-down now. Why cut off your theater take?

I used to mock the "Voyager reset button" but I miss it

every show now is cinematic with big drama hooks that usually don't end up mattering and run for an 8 episode season where 80% of the meat of the plot is stuffed into the last episode, which will end on a cliffhanger and not resolve much.

now we're in this post-prestige era of poorly paced serials that ape a lot of the features of those shows out of just convention, I guess, even when the material doesn't support it
