I understand possessive investment in material prosperity! I get it. But not to the exclusion of the safety of vulnerable people. That voice that says "why are they destroying..." STOP. Think about the violence and oppression that CAUSED that response. Don't get it twisted.

But what did the Weathermen do in the late 60s early 70s? Damage EMPTY property to call attention to injustice.* What did the suffragettes do to call attention to their plight? Damage property to call attention to the injustice they were suffering.*

*Obviously they did other things as well...

I'll be blunt: the Nazis knew better than to burn the Louvre. They knew destroying prized property would get more people into the streets of Paris than kidnapping entire neighborhoods of Jewish people. And they were right. White folk fetishize property & not vulnerable people. Stop doing that!

Things are coming apart quickly, so a word to white folk: you’re going to have to get used to property damage if you want to survive. Getting upset protesters set an empty Target on fire & making THAT & not police murder the focus is part of how we got here.
