"The WNBA and its players have reached a level of popularity usually reserved for male athletes and leagues, a level of popularity these man-babies can only dream of."

Transgender athletes in limbo as Olympic sports grapple with USOPC ban With the U.S. OlympicΒ Committee adhering to the Trump administration’s drive to push transgender women out of sports, here’s what that means for athletes and sports organizations.

Thank you to the @sfchronicle.com for letting me report on the USOPC transfeminine athlete ban:

Funny how all that protect women’s sports energy went out the window as soon as WNBA players showed up with T-shirts bringing awareness to the lack of financial equity they have in their league.

This is footage from today in MacArthur Park.

Minutes before, there were more than 20 kids playing β€” then, the MILITARY comes through.

The SECOND I heard about this, I went to the park to speak to the person in charge to tell them it needed to end NOW.

Absolutely outrageous.

Never before in the history of this nation has such a large redistribution of income been directed upward, for no reason at all

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Warnock: A budget is not just a fiscal document. A budget is a moral document. Show me your budget and I'll show you who you think matters and who doesn't. And if this awful budget were an EKG, it would suggest that our nation has a heart problem and is in need of moral surgery

Tennessee’s law expressly classifies on the basis of sex
and transgender status, so the Constitution and settled
precedent require the Court to subject it to intermediate
scrutiny. The majority contorts logic and precedent to say
otherwise, inexplicably declaring it must uphold Tennessee’s categorical ban on lifesaving medical treatment so
long as β€œβ€˜any reasonably conceivable state of facts’” might
justify it. Ante, at 21. Thus, the majority subjects a law
that plainly discriminates on the basis of sex to mere rational-basis review. By retreating from meaningful judicial
review exactly where it matters most, the Court abandons
transgender children and their families to political whims.
In sadness, I dissent.

Justice Sotomayor's dissent in Skrmetti (which she's now reading from the bench) is deeply pained, accusing her colleagues of abandoning "transgender children and their families to political whims" and badly damaging "bedrock" principles of equal protection. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

The Rise of Women’s Basketball (Gift Article) Caitlin Clark helped push the sport to new highs. She didn’t do it alone.

The NCAA had nothing to do with the start of women's sport history in the US. If anything it worked at every turn, for decades, to discourage and even eliminate opportunities for women's competitive athletics. If you want to know more about women's athletic leadership - check out the AIAW!

β€œI’m Terrified”: Trans-Feminine Athletes in Their Own Words In part two of a series, trans women athletes describe what it’s like to compete in the Trump era.

My latest piece @thenation.com PART II of a Series on Trans-Athletes, this one focusing on the trans-feminine athletes who have been the most demonized. They've been the focus of constant commentary while they themselves have been deliberately unheard. Hear them. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

One thing that really bugs me about so many of the anti-trans arguments about sports is that they'll be like, "Lia Thomas was a giant! Clearly she had an unfair advantage!" when the reality was just that she was pretty much the same size as other elite women swimmers.
