... what Spidey writers have and HAVEN'T done with the character in the years since One More Day are an indictment of all the people involved's fundamental lack of imagination.

(Given what all he DID fix you do kinda get the feeling Nick Spencer wanted to undo One More Day, too.)

I guess to be fair to these jerks the story goes that the minute after they even ANNOUNCED the wedding the Spidey writers and editors of the day were trying to find some way to undo it -- Ben Reilly Spider-Man was infamously one intended solution -- but both the grousing around this AND ...

My own frustration is that these nitwits were clearly trying to solve for getting some ideal Spider-Man from their youths back, and now the audience that grew up with married Peter are OLDER than Joey Q and his lot were and aren't getting THEIR beloved status quo returned to the 616, noooooooooo.

At least they're not literally going back to the mansion. And they do use it as a point of comparison, but this really does sound to me like they're going for a *writer cracks knuckles* "oh, we're gonna have some FUN here" version of the mutant school concept ala Jason Aaron's Wolverine & the X-Men.

Home video recording tech did not exist until 1976. Broadcast masters were thought to be destroyed. No recording would have existed, period. *THAT* is lost media.

it's weird to live in a world where a new 'worst thing you've ever imagined' happens at least a few times a month and it's easy to let it all run together and just sort of wash over you and go totally numb to all of it so you don't freak out because you still have to do laundry and go to work.

Between X and almost all of the legacy media, it sure seems like the bet that you can simply buy up a media source and replace it with an openly white supremacist and pro-fascist version of the source and very few people will blink or change their media consumption habits was a good one.

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that “we need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

A limp follow-up to the tremendous TV send-off for the Enterprise-D crew that kills off the franchise's original lead in a half-assed fashion -- and as so many have said over the decades, the fantasy crafted for him by the Nexus makes ZERO sense for Kirk given the events of all the prior movies.
