When Michael Jordan felt boxed in by his success in basketball he tried baseball. When Gary Brooks became synonymous with country he created Chris Gaines. And when JK Rowling created the most successful kids books of all time she reinvented herself as a petty, weirdo transphobia influencer.

I don't think anyone knows for sure, but the idea is there used to be a brand of wireless radios called "Handy-Talkies" and it got transferred. I tend to think it just sounded American, and thus cool, so it stuck

Usually when it starts to approach that hot it triggers thunderstorms and thus drops the temp. At this time of the year, Tampa has a storm around 3-4pm every day.

It's sort of interesting that when these folks list the things AGI* will solve they never list the wealth gap as one of those "root-node problems" AI will solve. And it's the deepest root.
*none of the AI we have is AGI, close to AGI, or likely to be AGI. When we have AGI, it won't be from LLMs.

A hand drawn chart showing the enjoyment of making a new collection as a photographer, with joy on the Y-axis and Time on the Z-Axis. There are many ups and downs, and notably, a low flat "Mesa of Despair" as I edit. The lowest point is when editing is done, and I hate everything. Miraculously, 24-hours later, everything looks great (new top joy). This precedes a precipitous fall off when I begin sharing it on social media, and eventually, one year later, I hate everything about the collection again.
Currently traversing the parched, flat, Mesa of Despair

He was probably a child the last time he saw groceries. Not a single person in his social circle has ever, in his entire adult life, talked to him about groceries. No one was late because they had to run to the store. No one grabbed some beer from Publix on the way to the bbq at his place

A framed photograph hangs above a rustic wood-and-metal sideboard, featuring a serene mountain scene from the Dolomites. The image shows jagged cliffs rising above a dense pine forest, reflected perfectly in the still green waters of a lake. The setting includes two modern wooden chairs and minimalist decor, blending natural and contemporary design elements.

Autumn foliage in fiery orange hues clings to the slopes of a rugged mountain in the Dolomites. Pine trees dominate the foreground, while low clouds partially obscure the rocky peaks above, giving the scene a layered, ethereal quality.
"Autumn's Edge"
The Dolomites' forests are rich in biodiversity, hosting species like the Alpine ibex and golden eagle, and are protected within various nature parks established to conserve this unique ecosystem. 5/

Golden light from a low sun illuminates a winding road as it snakes through a high mountain pass. The scene, framed by rolling hills and conifer forests, glows warmly under a sky dotted with fluffy clouds, evoking a peaceful alpine sunrise.
"Valley of Mist"
The Dolomites are home to the Ladin people, who speak Ladin, a Rhaeto-Romance language derived from Vulgar Latin, still preserved in several valleys today. In addition to Italian, German is widely spoken 4/

Jagged limestone cliffs rise sharply above a dense forest of evergreen trees, mirrored perfectly in the still, green waters of a mountain lake in the Dolomites. The composition captures the symmetry and serenity of the landscape at twilight.
"Mirror of the Past"
The mirror-like lakes of the Dolomites often reflect peaks formed from ancient coral reefs, dating back over 250 million years when this area was submerged under a tropical sea. 3/

A rustic wooden boathouse on stilts juts out over the emerald waters of Lago di Braies in the Dolomites. In the distance, rowboats drift across the lake, surrounded by dramatic mountain cliffs and scattered autumn trees, under a sky of breaking clouds and light.

A winding mountain road curves through a mist-covered valley beneath a towering, craggy peak in the Dolomites. The scene is enveloped in deep blue fog, softening the rugged contours and creating a moody, atmospheric effect.
