It's quite compelling, especially when you get drawn into Caulfield's first-person narrative. The way he's all conversational-like. You get a sense of the person without having it drilled by third-person.
And I can see why it was great for its time.
Just got to Chapter 5.
Yeah, something doesn't seem right about Holden. Seems pretentious and mansplain-y.
Also, definitely don't much like Ackley or Stradlater.

I've gotten through the first chapter on the latter and immediately I feel Salinger's challenging me to not like Holden Caulfield. Will report back later.
Ishii's enthusiasm really ties the Conglomeration together.
