President Donald Trump hosted oil executives at the White House on January 9 to discuss investments in Venezuela’s energy sector following Nicolás Maduro’s recent capture. Representatives from nearly 20 firms attended, forming a who’s-who of the oil industry. Confirmed companies include Chevron, Exxon Mobil, ConocoPhillips, Continental Resources, Halliburton, HKN, Valero, Marathon, Shell, Trafigura, Vitol Americas, Repsol, Eni, Aspect Holdings, Tallgrass, Raisa Energy, and Hilcorp. (Full list in linked post). Senior administration officials also attended, such as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum. Trump framed the $100 billion as industry commitment to Venezuela’s oil rebuild. But details on contracts, legal guarantees, or binding investment pledges have not yet been made.

I don’t think ICE officers killing innocent people or the president threatening to attack US allies would be OK if only groceries were a little less expensive. And it wouldn’t somehow become OK if violating rights and ruining alliances were lower priorities for him with the economy the top priority.

Surreal seeing Trump sweat over the possibility of impeachment, and implore Republicans to win/cheat in the midterms not for any legislative agenda but to avoid getting impeached, while leading Democrats go "oh no, not that" when asked about impeachment in the face egregiously impeachable offenses.

It appears ICE murdered someone in cold blood today and their plan is — per usual — to create a fog of lies so the killer does not face justice. We simply can't let that happen. The shooter has to be arrested and so does Bovino. They can't just kill people on the street.
