Why Palestine Matters So Much to Queer People
Palestinian identity can “upend the whole world order, if done right, if spun right, if we activate it enough. And I think queerness is a very similar kind of identity.”
Today in @thenation.com: a rich, insightful piece from @jadsalfiti.bsky.social on the complex, decades-long intersection of the Palestine and queer movements, and why Palestine has become such a vital queer issue.

"And what do you want to be when you grow up?" was my next question.
Ziad said, "A programmer."
Yazan: "A policeman."
Rosa: "A dentist."
Before we could finish the answers, the sound of an explosion shook the area —an air strike on a displaced family's tent nearby. My student Abood panicked, saying it was close to his home and he needed to check on his family. As his teacher, it was my role to calm him and keep him from leaving until we knew it was safe. He, like the others, could not focus for the rest of the lesson. Then Muhammad, another student, suggested we change the question from "What do you want to be in the future?" to "What is your wish right now?"
When I asked, every single child gave the same answer: "We wish for the war to end."
Today in @thenation.com: a brilliant piece from Ghada Eyad, a writer and teacher in Gaza, about what her students are suffering through right now. The genocide has warped and derailed the ability of kids even to dream about their own lives. www.thenation.com/article/worl...

Pete Hegseth And Adm. Mitch Bradley Belong In Prison
The South American boat strikes are plainly murders. Now we have the names of the murderers. Do we have the political will to lock them up?
If a man personally implicated in war crimes can remain atop the Pentagon, why would he stand by and risk his freedom should Vance (or Trump again) lose the 2028 election?
And unless Bradley sees the inside of a brig, the message to USSOCOM's chain of command is that no action is impermissible.

this is an accurate enough rap sheet but it still clings to the myth that biden's crimes stemmed from a botched effort to exert "leverage" over israel—rather than accepting the obvious reality, which is that biden was simply a willing and active participant in genocide

@Acyn
Mamdani: I have spoken about the Israeli government committing genocide and our government funding it and I shared about the concern that New Yorkers of wanting their tax dollars to go to the benefit of New Yorkers and what we see right now we are in the ninth consecutive year of children being homeless…
Zohran Mamdani standing beside the President of the United States just said that the US is funding Israel's genocide and yet can't take care of its own unhoused children on live television.
I never thought I'd see something like that in my lifetime

How the UK Media Became Complicit in the Gaza Genocide
An interview with British journalist Peter Oborne.
