Happy to say my local is thriving since this fella took over a couple of months ago. Many places aren't. It was doing OK before but it's always busier than I've ever known in 15 years of coming here.

I've decided that 4 degrees C at midnight tonight is the coldest it's gonna be for us in southern England for at least 10 months.
Now that's decided, some dry weather would be good. I've grown webbed feet from trudging around in the rain for months.
Yeah, I don't battle much. I'm at level 34 yet still get regularly tanked by the top names who I'm sure you're aware of. It's demoralising. Since September I've only been in plus points at the end of the week twice. I pity the poor souls who I thrash as they've only caught each plane once.
19.02.2026 18:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Heathrow is blue sky most of the time during the day, I understand why, but if it's already lit up for 2 or 3 hours why add to it? Ive only seen it like that once in 5 months of playing.
Mind you, some people seem to have an infinite amount of catch agains.
I'd ban that if I was in charge.
I wonder how many other people Googled "how much does a curling stone cost" today.
It's Β£750-Β£800 a stone for olympic grade by the way.
Think I'll stick to bowls, which I still don't do but expect I will at some point.
One oddity I saw was when Heathrow was blue sky'd for over 10 hours. Handy for me as I live in that area but that's madness. Or a glitch.

Do they object if burglars have their crowbars forfeited, or coursers their dogs and vehicles? Of course they donβt.
Boo-hoo the hunter has lost his horn.

Bugger. Levellers gig in November in Hammersmith on the same date as Subhumans in my home town.
I still haven't seen The Levellers live. Looks like I won't this year either.
Unless I travel to Dublin or Glasgow during my week off work in October. Hmmm....
Of course the DWP don't treat disabled people fairly. They lost more disability discrimination claims than anyone else in the past five years. Honourable mentions to Royal Mail and Tesco who were next worst.

It's already happening. The new starters are encouraged to work in an Evri / Amazon style and 'knock and run'. It's only us older staff who do the job properly these days, and even then many cut corners just to get the parcels delivered.
I refuse to play their games which they don't like but hey ho.
Today I'm listening to Sweetcorn & Soft Porn by The Moggs. So rare it doesn't appear on Discogs or Youtube, and Google reveals very little more.
Decent band. I saw them in Aldershot and bought the album. It appears few others did.
They changed their name to The Moonies shortly after.
It may go like Evri where delivery to a locker is cheaper. That's the only way I can see it working. Mind you, Evri and others still deliver plenty to people's houses. I see their drivers and packets thrown against doors all the time.
16.02.2026 11:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yep. The cheapest the public can send a Tracked item is Β£2.70 and that's second class.
Companies with contracts like Amazon, Moonpig etc will be paying less, how much less I don't know.
I may be wrong but I can't see these lockers catching on. We've been able to deliver to Post Offices for years with little take up.
Most people still want deliveries to their home. Plus we have 1,500 offices which can be collection points but most are only open 2 hours a day now due to cut backs.
It was actually Mandelson who started the privatisation ball rolling in 2008. He commissioned the Hooper Report which recommended partial privatisation. The idea fell through due to political backlash.

It started after the Covid pandemic when parcel volumes shot up.
Note - it's only Tracked parcels and letters that are prioritised. Non-Tracked parcels are routinely left so the guff about having to clear parcels for safety reasons is nonsense. Tracked packets affect KPIs. Non-Tracked don't.
I see the photo of the sorting frame has had identifying marks blanked out. Good idea. We're not allowed to take photos inside the office. RM will investigate this and social media posts and will sack people for breaching the policy. Yet the managers can ignore company policy and, sometimes, the law
16.02.2026 06:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Royal Mail have been gaslighting the public since COVID. My office isn't as bad as some but we do have times where no letters or untracked packets get delivered for a week on some rounds. This is an improvement. In the past untracked packets have sat there for 3 weeks.

See also taxi drivers. They all used to know where they were going within a few miles, now it's usually straight to the phone to input the address. Amateurs.
I rarely use taxis but, when I do, I won't let them 'keep the change' if they've used mapping software.
I delivered to a new build estate for a while. Amazon didn't touch it for months until the roads were updated on which ever mapping service they use. Amateurs!

This time it's an Amazon driver driving into the North Sea!
I've seen their parcels dumped at addresses two miles from where they should be in the past. Amateurs!

When I was a lad it was easy. That's a DC10, that's Concorde, that's a 747 etc. These days I can't tell an A330 from a 787 from an A350. I assume aerodynamic efficiency mean they're all pretty similar now whereas we used to have any old shape. Like the Shorts Skyvan.
