How strong can a tow be? What about 26km/h ON TOP of DRS?!?😳
BEA had the 4th lowest top speed in quali (no tows): ‘just’ 320km/h
Instead, he reached 346km/h while overtaking, although compared to quali:
-ERS deployment had to be managed more 🪫(‘Overtake mode’ in race?)
-Worse track conditions

A hidden McLaren MCL39 design detail has emerged after the team's strong start to F1 2025 with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
Given the chatter, here's something I wrote a couple of months ago showing how McLaren's brake duct arrangement has evolved during this reg set, whilst explaining how teams leverage heat transference from the brakes to the tyres via the wheel rims

The complexity of the diffusers air flow is captured by this video the floor striking the ground. With either the left side of right the symmetry changes. Together the tunnels air crash together is a highly complex interaction. There has been innovation to the keel area to try control this.

1)Could use more throttle after the clutch release, gaining a ~10km/h advantage
2)Maintained that advantage, gaining more meters
3)VER braked super-late, going wide

THE EFFECT OF DIRTY AIR - VISUALISED! 💡
🟠NOR following 🔵VER closely through the mighty 130R corner on Lap 3
The slipstream reduced the aero forces:
1)Before the corner: less drag➡️NOR gaining
2)Into the corner: less downforce➡️NOR had to lift 20%, losing 6km/h; 0.6g lower lat acc than VER!
