I encourage you to spend your time in more constructive ways, such as actually pushing back on the verifiable actions the Trump administration is taking against immigrant populations instead of making up lies against people actually putting themselves out there in defiance.

I’m asking you. Your refusal to answer what proof you have to make accusations that our law enforcement is lying to us shows me that you have none. I am forced to conclude that you are making things up. This is not what is needed at this time.

I think it is important that those making these serious accusations be able to back them up with proof and examples so as not to stoke fear necessarily in our communities, so I ask again, are there cases of this happening around Alexandria that you can point to to back up these claims?

Sheriff Casey, & Mayor Gaskins for that matter, have forcefully denied cooperation with ICE or do any extraneous activity outside of what is required by law, & made themselves & Alexandria a target of the Governor & President because of it, so I'm still not clear on what you're referring to.

What proof do you have to back this up? This is not the first I’ve heard of this organization making this claim, and yet no one has ever heard you offer any evidence to substantiate it.

A basic google search will tell you that the Alexandria Sheriff’s office does not cooperate with ICE.

It's a stretch of road out in Centreville where I work, nothing within city limits for those of us in ALX, but I think it's incredibly emblematic of endless public comment & over encumbrance of process. I knew things were bad on that front, but 13 years for a ½ mile road really got to me yesterday.

It should not take 13 years to improve safety and traffic conditions on a half mile stretch of road!!! WTF are we doing!!!!!!!

I'm 75% convinced that the reason people don't like things is because endless public comment periods give an illusion that people will get exactly what they want, & they're upset when that doesn't happen. If we just do stuff, people will probably like the outcomes because there are no expectations!

I just attended a VDOT briefing on a 1/2 mile road improvement that will take from 2017 to 2030 from first survey to completion, so this commentary on the public comment process is all too welcome. We shouldn't need 5 rounds of public comment on safety enhancements, we should hear from engineers!!!

I genuinely need every Democratic senator to start training to filibuster like @corybooker.com so we can do this every single day for the rest of this term.

Popping in from Richmond with no water to remind folks that investing and maintaining critical utility infrastructure is not wasteful government spending! On an unrelated note I've never been so excited to take a shower when I come home.

For those who were invested in this saga, the Democrats who were expected to win won, the Republican who was expected to win won. There is no change in the balance of power in Richmond, and it's only sort of one day until the start of session. 🫠

Going to pitch an article on fake Arlington. The public deserves an explanation as to what the hell is going on over there…

It is, and it’s not trying to claim, these are streets that are in fact in the City boundaries of Alexandria!

There’s a tiny little part of Fairlington, like 5 streets, that have Arlington street addresses and zip codes but that are inexplicably part of the City.

They are City residents so kids would go to Alexandria public schools! Their mailing addresses just say…Arlington.

I probably still have it, tbh. Although it was an academic paper and not an actual rewrite of the play. But I do love the idea of going back and actually drafting out that rewrite now...

I took a Shakespeare class to fulfill my upper level English requirement and wrote an entire paper reimagining A Midsummer Night's Dream as taking place during Rush Week on Greek Row.

Okay thinking more about this, it answers the question of why the addresses are the way they are, but not why the line is drawn like that??? Not that I want to cede territory but King St feels like a natural border here, this is a very strange line.
