Tumbler Ridge, BC, had a population of 2399 in 2021. This is an unimaginable tragedy. No matter the reason, this community is forever changed, and I hope @davidebybc.bsky.social and @mark-carney.bsky.social put in resources to support them through this.

Weโre system architects at core. We built a decentralized network so you could run your own moderation, but beyond that our upcoming healthy discourse project is taking some swings at the interaction model that drives these dynamics on Bluesky. Excited to start seeing it in action.

Harassing the mods into banning someone has never worked. And harassing people in general has never changed their mind.

Terrifying day. The downstream consequences could be scary too. Of the many reasons not to tweet gleefully about Kirk getting shot (also: it's morally wrong), a big one is you don't want to give these people any more ammo in their fight to shut down two-party competition in America

Would be great to see the CEAs give this a prime spot in the program.

It has obvious benefits! But also some cost to others.

yup! But often hospitals tend to be busier during holidays, and restaurants, leisure places that can pay the 2x pay will also have longer opening hours such that those who are working there might actually find it harder to go vote. It has trade-offs is all I'm trying to say :)

It's definitely good in principle, but in practical it sadly just means that it becomes much harder for essential workers to vote :(
