St Cuthbertβs grave in St Peterβs, Lindisfarne, was opened #OTD in 698 for the translation of his remains. The brethren clothed his incorrupt body in new vestments and lay it in a wooden coffin engraved with angels and apostles. This was placed above ground near the high altar.
