I had an interview today with an engineering manager of a fairly large org. An interesting topic surfaced during our discussion, the relevance of top tier communication and writing skills.
Something I notice is that doc culture is championed often by org leaders, but same orgs struggle to adopt.
Fascinating take on the ritual of making "estimates" of time for completing software projects to your stakeholders. I generally agree: www.seangoedecke.com/how-i-estima...

Playing the role of a βgotchaβ detector is such an underrated feature of these tools. Feedback on implementation strategy is a paramount use case imo.
Wow how about that for a bottleneck π
Hopefully their team can regain sight of whatβs important. Iβd be surprised if you were the only patron experiencing this.
Out of curiosity, what kind of code was it? Did you feel equally as invested in the code as you might have had you written it all by hand?

LLMs remove a lot of rote efforts from software engineering sure, but itβs hard to know if theyβll ever completely replace the need for engineers to have a deep understanding of their domain.
Why? Waymo?

What I do dislike, is how the cloud oligarchs of our era are trying to pimp it out as much and as fast as they possibly can in the never ending pursuit of their insatiable greed.
Itβs time to come back from 5 years away from social media.
So much of life has moved online that simply pulling away from these platforms has created a rather isolating existence.
Iβve healed enough now where I donβt need the isolation anymore, and Iβm ready to connect with others once again!
