I just get really annoyed with people claiming "Magneto did nothing wrong" when he advocates for Mutant Superiority and/or Human Genocide in the comics and movies all the time
It is a core aspect to the irony of his character

Magneto also advocated for human genocide- as in killing people based on their birth status...
Not saying that invalidates his very real arguments about systemic issues but there IS a reason he's the villain
not even buried in the comics- literally the climax of X2: X-Men United

The Affini are predatory creatures that have an instinct to "nurture" creatures they consider lesser- which is basically anything that's not an affini...
(I know it won't stop Mary from being one of the first to sign up to be a floret if they ever do show up IRL though.... 😒)

Like yeah these stories are flawed (just like all stories of this nature) but it is important to recognize that before people get too far gone down the rabbit hole and remind themselves as they continue through them

like no... that's just the ableist BS we would hear growing up with Autism and ADHD for how we were lazy for not getting the stuff done when it needed to get done despite how much we wanted to do it but we just couldn't...

Some characters live in constant fear of having to jump through social hoops otherwise they would be branded as a potential floret... leading to the very breakdown that results in them being one.... and then they are told "oh it was so hard for you because it's not what you really wanted"

like I get the arguments for how it is only forced on those who pose a danger to themselves or others but after reading some stories there seems to be a very small margin of error for what constitutes a "danger to themselves"

There is a difference between wanting to willingly give up your freedom to "become a floret" and having it forced upon you...

Me and My alter spent the past 2 days obsessed with reading some of these stories.... but there is one thing I believe on a deep level: The level of non-consent is horrifying in reality!
