Actually, on DMG it is five colors.
LCD off is its own color ;)

Second Reality, along with the legendary Assembly party were among the earliest influences to the members of Conspiracy. Today we're honoring the 32nd anniversary with a gift to the community: a native 32 bit port of the demo that kicked off the PC demoscene era with a bang.

= 32 bits after 32 years =

We're incredibly proud to announce that Second Reality has now been finally ported to a modern operating system, and you can watch it tear up your system: no video, no emulation, just code - as it should be.

The excess lines are all in VBlank, so it's fine.

IT WORKS!!!!!*

*but it overshoots my target scanlines by 2 in each direction. Nothing I can do about that aside from making the quality worse, so I'm sucking it up lol

Why does the vsync option suck so much in source compared to fps_max?

Everyone is this XKCD to some extent in some topic. Considering extensive knowledge "basic" is something that I - regrettably - fall for quite often.

It took me 2 days to write these lines because I constantly doubted myself on potential edge cases. Instead of coming up with solutions when they occur.

There's downsides to both, one might be overkill and stalls results short-term, the other might make the problem virtually unfixable.

367 (and counting!) lines of the worst spaghetti code to ever spaghetti.
But it's almost done and from my testing it works fine so far.

I keep having to remind myself that this is for one specific video, instead I keep trying to generalize everything^^

Half-Life 2 speedrunning:

2005: we don't take the car cos we can bunnyhop faster.

2025: if we rub a paintcan against a tire while saveload crouchcanceling, we permanently bisect our body's physicality and now our soul leaves our body every time we bodyslam a loot crate.

Anyone else had a long period of hating what would later become an everlasting passion?

I certainly hated math in school. It was boring and I asked the same unoriginal "but what will I ever need this stuff for?" line that everyone asked.
Turns out it's incredibly useful to me^^

Like, lemme get good at solving systems of linear equations and creating proper formal specifications for algorithms first.
Or shooting with film.

Learning how to draw is a low high-priority ask, and I'm okay with that.

I have several decades left.

Why is youtube suggest "how to draw" stuff now.
I appreciate it, I really do.

But the function that describes my happiness over time doesn't approve.

Intuitively, this is ultimately an example of a fencepost problem.
We have k "posts" with a difference of two and we insert k - 1, not k, "fences" between them.
Thus the new total number is 2k - 1 and not 2k.

21.07.2025 11:34 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

Proof:
|{a, a+1, a+2, ... b}| = b - a + 1 =: k.

|{2a, 2a+1, 2a+2, ... 2b}| = 2b - 2a + 1 = 2(b - a) + 1 = 2(b - a + 1) - 1 = 2k - 1.

This literally just happened to someone, so I feel it's appropriate to point this out as this is possibly one of the simplest off-by-one errors to make and be seriously confused by.

If |{a, a+1, a+2, ..., b}| = k, then |{2a, 2a+1, 2a+2, ..., 2b}| = 2k - 1.
NOT 2k !!!!
