does this attack even break TPM-sealed keys? the vulnerable EFI shell would get measured into PCR7, right?

this is only an issue if you trust the stock uefi keys, though, right? microsoft has signed SO much vulnerable code, i'm not sure if they've even revoked all the known-vulnerable windows bootloaders yet

that's what caBLE is for (and i haven't seen a single site implement passkeys without a backup password that wasn't already passwordless before adding passkeys)

but anyway while yeah using a different password manager on desktop and mobile is kind of bad UX it isn't really *worse* UX for passkeys compared to passwords, is it? especially if you still have a password set as a backup method

to be fair i don't think many people actually use Apple Passwords on Windows or even know it's supported. but still

(also iirc sites are recommended to detect caBLE/QR-code logins and display a prompt to save a duplicate passkey on the new device)

but if you still have a password then conditional create arguably solves this: when you sign in on a new device a passkey will get saved in its password manager instead of the password itself

well the intended answer is "you shouldn't be doing that anyway" (and CXP is finally shipping to copy passkeys between devices, the latest iOS builds of Apple Passwords and 1Password both have it)

this is the demo video for chrome on android (i think the ui might've been tweaked slightly since?)

the expected UX is that the user clicks/taps the username field, and then the browser automatically displays a prompt to use the passkey via autofill. this makes passkeys the default for users with one without the privacy impact of telling the site that a logged-out user has an account
