I’ve been doing garden chores. Hoping to get some reading in this afternoon.
No hard frosts here yet, nor any on the horizon. An odd autumn, but the pineapple sage is loving it!

Glossy green foliage surrounds a single small white blossom with a massive cluster of golden yellow stamens. The blossom is made up of five pure white petals partly cupped around the cluster of stamens.

It's late fall here, and although it has been unusually warm and dry, there isn't much blooming.
One of the exceptions is the tea -- camellia sinensis.
It has very delicate, simple white flowers, unlike its showier cousins.

Several fungi growing out of a mossy log. These are turkey tails, which grow in a fan or circular pattern. They grow in layers of brown, tan, and taupe, forming the sorts of concentric arcs/rings that look similar to a displaying turkey's tail

I'm not sure whether the acidity affects the leaf color -- but I thought it might, since it has such a profound impact on flower color. Now I need someone who has base soil to compare with ;)

A cluster of hydrangea leaves. The central leaf angles up towards the upper left. It is spattered with raindrops. The tip and outer edge of the leaf is a dark eggplant purple. This somehow manages to fade into pale yellow, and then green at the center. Some of the leaves show brown spots.

The last lingering autumn color here is a subtle one: the hydrangeas!
They turn a rather lovely purple around the edges, and a faded yellow in the middle.
We're very acid; I'm curious whether they show different colors in base soil.

I'm glad you have a good plan for next year!
I'm also mostly doing more of the same, with a few experiments around the edges. The only seed I need to order is for my experiments :)

What a lovely clear golden yellow! What little autumn color we get is blown now -- so we're back to our green rainy autumn ;)

No, I haven’t tried gumdrops — so far I’ve only tried hard candy (mostly toffee) and chocolate.

A small salamander with a broad coppery stripe defining the back, head, and legs; the sides are dark brown. The backdrop is dead leaves and fallen cedar needles in almost the same range of brown and copper. He is likely a Western Red-backed Salamander.

I disturbed this lovely little salamander when moving potted plants as part of my winterizing -- a common hazard, since they like it when hard surfaces meet duff.
Fortunately it's warm enough for him to find a new hidey hole.

Oh no! Well, I hope you get to celebrate with her in some form, but a broken foot is a lousy bday present. I hope they gave her a boot, because it doesn't sound like she's going to stop moving....
