Chemistry Nobel awarded to three scientists for their work on metal organic frameworks
The winners of the prestigious science prize were announced by the Nobel committee in Sweden.
If you want to know more about the metal organic frameworks that won the Chemistry Nobel prize today. I go into them in my book It's a Gas. They are at the heart of oxygen concentrators that kept people alive during Covid.

Dave Peck from TUDelft reminds us that there are lots of 2030 deadlines to hit sustainability targets enshrined in legislation. There are only 800 working days to achieve them.

You know what would be great to reduce aviation emissions? Tax jet fuel like every other fuel, invest this money in the railway and ban flights on every route that can be travelled by train in, say, less than 6 hours.

In other words our current trajectory is very problematic for future generations.

Also only 10% of global population flies. The airlines aim is to increase that to 50%. This will very quickly cancel out any gains from SAF. As well as fuelling over tourism
in places like Barcelona and Paris.

Dont forget we dont tax aviation fuel, so we are subsidising this form compared to petrol cars ect..

βThis is real progressβ: airlines on sustainable aviation fuels and the chances of net zero flying
The EU and UK have imposed mandates, and investors see its value β but the industry has mixed views
I dont often agree with Ryan Air boss Michael OβLeary but he is right about SAF "There is no possibility of meeting 6% SAF by 2030; not a hope in hell."
Thats because the bio feedstock for SAF will hit food production and cause inflation. www.theguardian.com/business/202...
