Hey friends. It's important that you understand this. If someone says something bigoted around you; it is a social test. They are seeing how much resistance they will get (especially from those they consider a peer) for their viewpoint. They are also feeling out whether you are one of their in-group. Discomfort is not a condemnation. Silence is not a condemnation. Walking away is not a condemnation. It is complicity. And it teaches bigots that there won't be consequences for their bigotry.
