if it helps, I *am* trans, and have also seen this happen to other trans people *mostly* over Perceived Sex Crimes. (one of whom i was involved with helping to escape homelessness, induced by Gamergate, recently.)

I'm not even sure myself. Most of the commentary I've seen has been focused on the harassment the modder has received, I wasn't even aware there was an inciting incident. I should look into that before continuing down this path any further.

I don't think anybody "deserves" harassment. There were obviously better solutions. But framing her as blameless when her actions directly lead to *someone else being harassed* is context collapse.

in a vacuum, sure. nobody cares about opinions here.

but the only reason to publicly put something you think is "weird" in front of your thousands of followers is because you expect them to have a reaction to it. she directly compared them to gamergate incels as well. she knew what she was doing

the modder got dogpiled for being a zoophile. that is always the end result of this type of shit, whether or not they meant to (and it's been so long with so many instances that i am not willing to take it at good faith.)
people hit back ONE TIME and *now* cancel culture is real. ok

In a strange position where I think there are massive, massive social harms to the proliferation of AI (misinfo, deepfakes, predatory 'companions', surveillance, labour rights) but also feel the mainstream arguments against it range from unconvincing (water) to actively harmful (copyright; "soul")

the rancid vibes on this site are truly unfortunate given how important its architecture is for the future of decentralized social media

A version of this name was like, 2nd or 3rd, but this name in particular only got like a dozen or so votes. People were pissed and there was a petition to change the name but nothing came of it
