Local theater canceled a screening of Pride and Prejudice that we HAD TICKETS TO for a showtime of Minecraft instead

Writing about Inland Empire sometimes introduces some fun challenges

Scanning through episodes of Twin Peaks The Return for my thesis and I had to stop and watch the American Woman Remix needle drop sequence even though it’s not applicable to my point at all I just love that shit so much

It’s about moments where sound design and score blur together in David Lynch stuff specifically when the lines of reality are blurred in the film so if you can then guess what scene this is you get uhhh one million points

Thesis note taking is going well

Needing to get work done on a rainy Sunday morning while my cat lays on top of me purring away is truly the greatest struggle

Just watched Queer and Reznor/Ross and Guadagnino is my new most envied composer/director pairing, the trust required to get the same people to do both Challengers and Queer in the same year is nuts

(and the fact that they knocked it out of the fucking park on both is even wilder)

The Bond tribute was Fine but confusing considering there was uhhhhh no James Bond movies last year

I get they’re probably passive aggressively memorializing it in advance with Amazon having bought the IP but like, idk weird choice still I think

Or like get somebody up there singing Blue Velvet, hell bring in Chris Isaak to do Wicked Games actually idk

In a just world the Bond tribute would have been swapped for Isabella Rossellini and Laura Dern talking about David Lynch followed by a musical performance of someone covering Julee Cruise where they make the stage look like The Roadhouse

Just finished watching ‘A Different Man’ and look it is very much not all about the awards or anything but in a just world Sebastian Stan and Adam Pearson would both just have piles upon piles of them for this thing

Lynch is one of those directors that you can rank his filmography in like any order and I would just be like “yeah you’re right”

Hell even if you somehow put Dune at the top you might be a little freak but you are happy and free and I love that for you

The powers of me having silent film summer last year during brat summer are coming together; Charli XCX is going to get the kids into silent movies everyone watch Passion of Joan of Arc and Metropolis RIGHT NOW
