Only 0.03% Opt Out Of LGBTQ+ Education In Maryland After SCOTUS Gives Them A Right To After SCOTUS gave families a right to opt out of LGBTQ+ education, Montgomery County, Maryland is reporting only 43 families took them up on it.

This summer, SCOTUS issued a landmark ruling allowing parents to opt out of classes that teach material conflicting with their religious beliefs.

Maryland implemented the ruling it lost.

Only 0.03% students (well, their parents) took advantage of the opt-out.

My school has increased opportunities for students from all sorts of backgrounds, helping them overcome barriers to the excellence that higher education provides.

Students in recovery, students with disabilities, lgbtq students immigrant students. All are doing amazing things.

My school is a private Christian university that has found so many ways to provide access to excellence.

When higher education is under attack, I want to see my alma mater stand strong in it's values.

The neighborhood around the university is largely Somali, with a large Hmong population nearby.

Some personal news. Yesterday I was named as a "distinguished alumni" at my university.

The roster of people honored included musicians, a Somali athlete who designed athletic wear for Muslim girls, a lawyer, a city manager, and an activist.

The wonderful day made me proud of my education.
