I'm still drowning in classwork, but feeling more and more inspired to look back at my comic Catcha. Maybe it does matter. Maybe there's a place for Myouki. Maybe it doesn't matter how great or meaningful it is, but just that there's more positive queer content out there.

This year, I have a student who went out of their way to read the entire comic, talk to me about it, make fan art, and recently gift me a handmade charm of this character, Myouki. They called him a (trans) icon.

An illustration of my OC Myouki, a Japanese man with cat ears and a tiny cat tail because he's a cat deity. The picture is him from just above mid-thigh and up with his back to the viewer, looking to the left, and holding up a bottle of coffee in his left hand. He's wearing black pants with a cut-out to allow his little tail to stick out, and a dress shirt with the demisexual flag pattern and colors on it. He has short, wavy hair that's black on one side, orange on the other, with a white undercut to show his calico cat form. Behind him is a transgender flag. Myouki is a transgender man.

I've set my comic aside for years now, suffering from burnout and trying to focus on teaching instead. It hurt, it was hard.

Prompto is in a grey turtleneck and a navy blue beanie. Ignis is in a navy button-up shirt, which is unbuttoned and hanging open, with a grey shirt underneath. Gladio is in a red sweater. Noct is in a black button-up shirt. They are all in their thirties in this comic. The first panel shows them exchanging gifts. Ignis is giving Prompto a tripod, and Prompto is giving Ignis a card. I honestly forgot what the card was meant to be, I think it was a gift card of some sort for a stay at a resort so Ignis could relax for once and be pampered. Gladio is holding up a yellow, grey, and black striped scarf handmade by Noct, and Noct is holding a fishing tackle box Galdio gave him. The second panel is Prompto laughing as Ignis kisses his cheek, and Gladio and Noct kissing each other with the scarf Gladio had gotten draped over both of their shoulders. The third and final panel is all four of them smiling and looking at the viewer, as if it's a holiday photo. The scarf is looped loosely around Ignis and Gladio's shoulders, with the ends of it resting on Prompto and Noct's shoulders.

A traditional illustration of some of the villains from Kingdom Hearts enjoying holiday time. There is a table set with various sweets. In the center are lussekatter, Swedish saffron buns. There are traditional Swedish candles on either side of it. Near the viewer is a plate of pepparkakor, Swedish gingersnaps, and spritz cookies. To the left side of the table is a platter of molasses cookies, a specialty my mother always makes. There is also a small plate of cheese and crackers. There are bowls on either side of the table with roasted chestnuts, and scattered around the table are mikan. Everyone at the table has a mug in hand or sitting in front of them with hot cocoa and marshmallows. Seated at the table, from left to right, is Young Xehanort, Terranort, Old Man Xehanort, Xemnas, Xigbar, Vanitas, and a Flood trying to steal a spritz cookie. Everyone is wearing sweaters. OMX's has bells and a bow on his sweater, and is wearing a Santa hat. Xemnas' sweater has the pattern from his white and black coat. Xigbar's sweater says "On The Naughty List." In the background is a huge Christmas tree. Ansem is standing on a ladder, with Repliku on his shoulders leaning over to place the star on top of the tree. To the right of the tree is a portrait of scientist Terranort when he had taken the name Ansem. There is a large window behind everyone with a dark sky and some speckles of snow. Voltron Legendary Defender fan art illustration done in markers. Hunk, Lance, and Pidge are standing around the Sentry they befriended, watching it play an arcade game. There are other arcade games around them, and a vending machine. The colors are mainly purples, with blues, greens, and pinks. The garrison trio is wearing casual retro clothing.

My very first zine piece! The zine was canceled but that's ok because I am still really proud of this piece.
