Becoming a platform to monopolize user time. The only next step possible since the game already was a gacha time sinker.

I really love Door to Phantomile, and I was surprised by how much I liked Empire of Dreams. Coincidentally, I'm currently replaying it on the RG28XX and remembering how much I like this sequel.

I face my computer, reciting the Canticle of the Start Menu. It responds "Understood, applying update." and renews my Game Pass for a decade. Fearfully, I hum the Hymn of Undoing. My OneDrive is made public and posted to Teams for all to mock. I begin to cry. Another month of Game Pass is added.

Most of the internet used to be like this. This is actually the default, it took companies enclosing the internet and adding weird, soul-killing incentives to make people behave the way they do now. In a way, there is truly nothing special about Wikipedia except that it survived longer.

You can overclock a jailbroken PSVita to get better performance out of unoptimized games. The PlayStation Vita TV would be the best setup for streaming though, as it has a HDMI out that you could capture natively.

Eventually you have to accept that no matter how many different notebooks you buy, they wonโ€™t make you a better writer. For that, you need to spend a lot of money on the right pen.

Poco is an absolutely darling point-and-click adventure that deserves so much more attention. Gorgeous animations, beautiful painted backgrounds, and a charming yet unexpectedly somber story. It's free on Steam and only takes 1-2 hours to beat. Do check it out โ™ฅ๏ธ

Super Columbine Massacre RPG!โ€Šโ€”โ€Š 20 years later, are the limits are still winning? A few days ago someone left a very angry review of The CRPG Book, criticizing me for featuring Super Columbine Massacre RPG!:

Had a lot of thoughts in my mind this week with the Steam & itchio bans and a book review I've received, so I've decided to write a little article on transgressive games:

Features are now designed solely to look good on the quarterly OKR report of demented silicon valley managers... AI translation usage is up 3,000% percent, they just had to force it on all users, with no option to turn it off!! Genius, promote this lunatic and ask the next one to push it to 5,000%!!

When a chatbot gets something wrong, itโ€™s not because it made an error. Itโ€™s because on that roll of the dice, it happened to string together a group of words that, when read by a human, represents something false. But it was working entirely as designed. It was supposed to make a sentence & it did.

Whenever I see "AI ethics concerns" it's always crap like "should Claude have a social security number?!" and not "should OpenAI all be in jail for marketing ChatGPT like it's your friend and designing it to prioritize continuous engagement above all else?"

Been a while since I've given a shout-out to Corru Observer, but it remains one of the coolest games you can play in your browser.

The task that generative A.I. has been most successful at is lowering our expectations, both of the things we read and of ourselves when we write
anything for others to read. It is a fundamentally dehumanizing technology because it treats us as less than what we are: creators and apprehenders of meaning. It reduces the amount of intention in the world.
