the difference between them is that eito, by nature of existing in a non-linear property, is actually afforded endings where he can actually find redemption as himself while maintaining his sense of self. there’s a reason why brainwashing or suicide-by-takumi is his usual bad end otherwise

towards emphasizing that this gave her an innate biological motive to harm that most people interpreted as an urge that couldn’t be overcome, and the fact that most people suggest being ryōko would have been a ‘better’ fate as a consequence

whenever people make him kind of a soft little marshmallow stammering and blushing I just can’t see the vision. his entire thing is egging people on. most top komaeda stuff otoh makes him way too proactive in his confidence (if this makes sense)

the two big tells that, if either are present, verify an artist as having a glove thing:

- if the glove is thin, they do the "bridge" across the palm of the hand

I bought ZTD on release and ... while it was bad, it didn't really make me angry or anything. just kind of empty and disappointed

the fact that SF route is a bridge too far for me really speaks to how utterly abysmal it is. I genuinely wish I could go back in time and stop myself from reading it

for perspective: I am, generally speaking, a AINI apologist. I think it was Okay. you can probably guess what half of the part I liked and the half that I didn't based on my general character preferences, and I'm pretty sure that take is contrary to the current consensus opinion

and then the actual route was a wet fart of a story that made me think of half of the game less fondly and retroactively downgraded my opinion of uchikoshi’s prior writing. I think this it’s probably bad that that the game is structured like this

I suffered through pre-patch serial battles hoping it’d be the ending I needed before I could finally evaluate uchikoshi’s route. I suffered through every single mediocre branch expecting that he’d at least show me something good at the end. there’s so much build-up leading up to it, after all

I completed the game blind in like. what, a week after release? and you know what? by the time I acquired the specific box of calamity ending you need for SF, I had already played everything else in the game other than romance

I am not kidding SF knocks the game down like 4–5 points for me because it exists at the expense of the rest of the game. it makes me completely unable to take the anti-completionist rebuttal seriously (even if there are even more unmentioned reasons I find the argument lacking)

the giant lock on SF route and its arbitrary prerequisites. the completion tracker on your save files. SF parasitizing multiple other route narratives to direct you towards it

I like how people run the ‘well you’re not supposed to beat it all anyway’ defense for THL whenever someone critiques its quantity-over-quality approach while deliberately ignoring the multiple design decisions that incentivize you to complete every ending you can
