Sometimes Seattle feels frustratingly parochial and reactionary, and sometimes I’m reminded how much of that really is how our political leadership too often are tools of a minority of big business/industry and selfish well-off homeowners. (Granted, the public does keep electing these tools…)

Okay but how long has it been since a traffic camera was installed here to catch and ticket drivers who block the intersection, and when is that supposed to actually start helping to keep the intersection open? Because the eastbound 8 is still routinely blocked by drivers going to the I-5 on-ramp.

A few suggestions will follow.

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.

A reminder that if violent crime in Seattle was not currently dropping, militarizing our streets would still be inappropriate and a bad idea.

In 2021 when The Urbanist interviewed Harrell, he got mad at us for the interview time (his choice) and for not endorsing him during an election when The Urbanist did not exist yet.

What beggars belief here is that CM Rivera keeps insisting she supports alternative response even while she gives a long stream of remarks that illustrate that she clearly doesn't.

Someone else's observation to me, but I agree completely: This mailer is by and for people who relate to shuffling through resumes, not people who relate to applying for jobs.

I swear that the entire purpose of Harrell’s budget is to set up Wilson for “failure” so he can attempt to swoop back into office in four years and spend more time doing nothing worthwhile.

The majority of the council members —and Mayor Harrell—are so small-minded and shortsighted.

Kettle: also incompetent, also unfit for office, also invincibly ignorant of his own failings.

Rivera continues to demonstrate that she is incompetent and unfit for office, and it’s a shame she shows no self-awareness or inclination to improve her knowledge, understanding, and work as a council member.

This council's attitudes towards levies approved by voters is very concerning. As a voter, I in fact care that governments spend money I voted on where they told me they planned to spend it.
