No matter how hard people try to convince us having empathy is wrong,
it is right.
No matter how hard people try to convince us that diversity is a weakness,
it is a strength.
No matter how hard people try to convince us that love is limited,
it is unlimited.

I'd argue that he didn't go far enough with his new name. "Disgraced Former Judge John Paul Dehen" has a nice ring to it.

Trump, from 2020:
βPerson, woman, man, camera, TV,β Trump explained, saying that listing the words in order was worth βextra pointsβ, and that he found the task easy.
βThey said nobody gets it in order, itβs actually not that easy. But for me it was easy. And thatβs not an easy question.β

"Michael called the number on the back of his credit card not realizing all of his calls were being intercepted by the hackers themselves." I, for one, did not consider this a possibility. (It wouldn't have been enough to have me convert my savings to gold bars, and hand over the bars, but still...)

IP Fam- if you have any good examples of patent apps/patents which were rejected/invalidated for being obvious (whether they overcame that or not), I would love to see them! I'd like to go through some with my students in class, but don't have a good collection of my own yet. Thanks in advance!

U.S. PTO director John Squires announced he will determine whether the office's PTAB will hear challenges to the validity of specific patents, taking on a responsibility that had been delegated to board judges since its creation in 2012. @denniscrouch.bsky.social www.uspto.gov/sites/defaul...

It's not the most glaring example of violating the law going on right now, but the PTO has issued an NPRM on IPR discretionary denial.
1) It is completely contrary to the statute that created IPR.
2) It does not appear to have gone through the required EO12866 process (even the non-signif version).

The deportation is also (primarily?) based on his guilty plea on intent to distribute LSD, as the article makes clear.
Is it still horrific? Yes. But not as horrific as being deported for a crime for which he was wrongfully convicted, and for which he was wrongly imprisoned for 43 years.

"Before his arrest for murder, he had pleaded guilty at age 19 to intent to distribute LSD .... Although that conviction carried its own immigration consequences, Subu ... was never deported because he was serving a life sentence."
Still horrific, but not derived (only) from the murder charge.

Painful to hear the fear in her voice as she says, "let them know." And as others have noted, this seems to violate Judge Ellis's order issued just yesterday about arresting journalists & also about unnecessary physical force. (See 1(a) and 1(h) of order). storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

She can't unsee what she's seen, and should probably dump him, but you don't just "find" messages on someone else's phone. Feeling a need to snoop indicates a distrust (which in this case was warranted) that's doesn't bode well for a relationship.

AOC to Trump (in June, on X): "Iβm a Bronx girl. You should know that we can eat Queens boys for breakfast. Respectfully."
She was saying that she was tougher than Trump, not dehumanizing him.
(There was plenty of other dehumanizing talk about immigrants from that officer.)

The USPTO should remain open, as it has during past government shutdowns. As I understand it, the USPTO maintains an operating reserve fund that is sufficient to keep it open for a few months even if the government shuts down.
