Suddenly there's talk everywhere about the end of "this nightmare." But why? What has changed?

I do understand it that way, but we've heard so often that Trump wants to be loved. Has he given up on that?

They know he knows he's lying, but they don't care too much about this kind of lie. It's a different thing when he lies about prices, for example, as he's begun to do--when he denies the evidence of people's own eyes that he is hurting them. That's when he's hurting himself.

Trump is not only off his game, but getting further and further off it.

It's going down anyway. Without serious writers it's not a serious publication.

Yes, and let's have more of this from other states.

27.10.2025 22:19 β€” πŸ‘ 13    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Looks to me like he's made his peace with it.

I don't get it. Of course it is.

It will remain in the public eye as a matter of course, because the construction project will take years. I think this was a big mistake on their part.

Andrew, could this happen? How could they ever allow it?

Did, let's say, a William F. Buckley say such things in private? I bet he did, if not in quite such crude terms. I'm not sure this is really new.

Which is precisely what he's doing.

The crudity of this thing's basic conception contrasts with the relative sophistication of its execution. Even assuming he could handle the technical aspects of getting AI to do what he wanted, I don't think Trump could have planned this out on his own. So who helped him?

More than good

Yes, but some people need to know water is wet.

When you debate him, please ask him point blank if he pledges not to make common cause with Trump.

Otherwise put, they're anti-democratic. And essentially violent, because they're quite willing to do what it takes to impose their vision on the rest of us.

Silicon Valley pseudointellectualism never really changes. It's not really delusion. More like a kind of cognitive warp.

Neither a strategic institutionalist nor a stealthy conservative. I think he's just weak. If and when the tide turns, he will too.

So, Jake. Still glad you did that text interview?

Where exactly is the weak point? I suppose I accept an armchair psychological analysis, but how does that give us an actual point of attack?

Right, but did she accomplish that? Can we gauge the effect she had?

In fact this holy man would obviously rather trigger martial law and untold other emergencies than flout the president's will here, even though he knows perfectly well what Trump is hiding. I would love to know how he squares this with himself.

Under a similar policy in Nazi-occupied Belgium, Jewish children were separated from their families and housed in orphanages until they reached majority, at which time they were deported to camps.

No.

We wouldn't say that the human digestive system isn't set up to treat junk food like any other food. The obvious fact is that junk food is formulated so that we can't resist it.

In the same way, AI is deliberately wired so that the human brain won't treat it like any other technology.

Or: they've lost the public and they know it, but they're going to do what they need to do to hang onto power and so the appearance of "seriousness" no longer matters.

Sort of analogous to Trump's appearance at the UN. They don't know what they look like, and they're making everyone look.

He is also essentially promising that Cuomo would be in his pocket, if we didn't already realize that.

Vote for Mamdani.
