em (@emboyyy) Napped from 8 pm til midnight and am enjoying the internet with fresh eyes. Last month we celebrated 5 years since natedogg208 climbed out of poverty by looking truly content with 3 of life's perfect ...

In which I reflect on 5 years of Natedogg208's oceanspray-backed propulsion into the stratosphere, and consent in sharing the stories of minors:

How can I be added to this list?

our boss came and told us that scary mean man was her dad and he was going to have something to say if we didn't shut our mouths and get back to work.

her 30s and she told me quietly she didnt ever want to hear me say anything like that again. Fair enough.

Her boss came and berated her at length, he was super mean. My coworker and I debriefed together about how mean he was and how much he sucked. We were teenagers.

A few minutes (hours?) later,

The carnival was the most egregious instance of bad fit. I don't belong in that environment and I think the patrons could tell. One man offered me a dime bag to rig the game. A youth asked if I wanted to see them juggle, and I offered them $1 out of my pocket if they could.

My boss was a woman in

energy brought down the vibe. I had been doing so well in the ruins of late-stage co-op and then I felt like I was being blamed for this thing that was clearly not my fault.

We parted on good terms, though.

that i would never leave a takeout cup of coffee on a computer tower, even if I did regularly have leaves in my hair. I didn't want to centre myself though. The point was the computer wasn't working.

I must have called him to tell him the computer wasn't working. He found my coworker's day-old coffee cup sitting on top of the computer tower and picked it up accusingly.

He had always been really kind to me. I said "that's not my coffee," and he said "it is coffee though." I wanted him to know

co-op's final days, the computer just stopped working. It was one of the busiest days of the year, a saturday in December. I am no computer whiz but I knew how to calculate GST on goods and how to make change. I was plugging along, doing my best in bad circumstances with a smile.

My boss came in.

have given her my full attention. Even i know better than to work to rule at a vegetable co-op where nobody gets paid if nobody buys anything!

That wasn't my undoing. But I can still hear her saying "thanks for your help!" with the most sarcasm I have ever heard. I felt awful for years.

I didn't start relaxing right away, there was so much to learn! I also got in to a scintillating text convo with a long distance partner and a mom was trying to get my attention. I was helping a customer or producer and she wanted to know something i didn't have the answer to about balm.

Another tense time was when I worked at a local artisans and producers co op. We sold hand made pottery, soaps, and some fresh vegetables. Now 28, i participated in an ayahuasca ceremony the night before my first opening shift.

I arrived two mins before we were to open and it all came together.

He didn't pay me, and when I said that wasn't fair, he told me that I also hadn't held up my end of the bargain.

I didn't take any revenge. I saw someone the other day who could've been him. I will never even try to recover my dignity with that guy.

I will never know what i did wrong, according to him. The job was simple. People wanted a bottle of water and I sold them one. Did he expect me to try harder? "You, there, with the sweaty pits. You need water!"

I was selling water bottles at Fringe Fest. 18 years old and smokin' hot (per census, i didn't think so) and Ricardo hired me because, his words, "you're sharp".

I don't think I've had the worst jobs but there have been some very weird instances. Lots of tension between me and my boss. Sometimes partly my fault or mostly my fault, and sometimes they were incoherent in describing what they expected.

Who's got a recipe for a cabbage dessert? Bonus points for one bowl, but I can certainly get them all out for a special occasion.

Grateful the 3 yo has a good grasp on proper usage of "bad boys" - e.g. I brought home a box, they brought it into the bedroom saying "checkout this bad boy! Lets open this bad boy up!"

It was my new winter coat which is indeed a bad boy. Very fetching and warm.

i guess i just dreamed that a right wing reactionary assassinated elected democrats in minnesota because if that had actually happened i'm sure that newcasters would be bringing that up when dhs or the white house raises the topic of political violence

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boyโ€™s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

โ€œMy world collapsed,โ€ Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICEโ€™s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

I have not intentionally raised M to misgender this very beloved caregiver. Now that it happens regularly, I realized it was a missing

When people "can't remember" or "can't adjust" about something important to someone important to them, it feels intentional. But what if she is just broken? What if someone was really mean to

is a treat for me. Misgendering of a person who grew up speaking a language that lacks gendered pronouns, yet has made it a point to spurn they/thems with some pitiful excuse about "that's not how English works"

Or, about an enby child "don't we know X's gender? Why 'they'" as if I had not asked

M, 3.5 years old, is relaxed about pronouns. They seem to vary with mood, or activity type, or lunar phase maybe. M went to hang with a beloved grandmother and wasn't ready to not be with her and back with me.

Shouting through tears I NEED TO PLAY WITH HIM NOW. I MISS HIM! Hearing this misgendering

I'm not trying to get people to MANIFEST or anything, just to not capitulate to the forces that need us to dislike ourselves.

I don't have pet peeves, I am annoyed and bothered by lots of things and not interested in ranking them.

One that comes up often: people calling themselves stupid and similar. It destroys the flow of conversation and is distressing for me. I have conversations based on the premise that we
