The Earth's core-mantle boundary separates two very different geologic realms—but new evidence suggests the core is somehow leaking out to the surface.

Yes! We would often stop at the Old Heidelberg Bakery in Phoenix (then stop at German Sausage Co. down the road). We now live on the East Coast and we've been blessed by Lidl's presence. My German husband approves of their bread and brezeln.

It does frustrate me that the west couldn't add more pazazz when they rebuilt the cities after WWII. Many don't look better than the eastern blocks.

Look at that hydrograph! This is from a USGS monitoring well in Christiansburg, Montgomery County, VA. Observation well 27F2 SOW 019 is 450' deep, completed in carbonate rocks of the Elbrook Formation and well known for its response to quakes.

US domestic conferences are also a fight to get allowance for federal employees and those using mission funds. What's maddening is that the regulations change daily, sometimes multiple times in the same day.

I guess if you bake enough, you don't ever really need to "discard" anything, but I don't. To keep it fed, I remove some of it and give it a fresh feeding....then back to the fridge it goes until I want to bake again.

It's the sourdough that you throw out when you feed the starter. I typically save mine in the fridge for other recipes.

Invigorating the American Space Sector Requires Working With NASA, Not Against It | TechPolicy.Press When programs are cut to the bone, America loses much more than it gains, writes Janet Vertesi.

On news that ~2,145 senior-ranking NASA staff are set to leave under a Trump administration effort, resurfacing this from Janet Vertesi (@cyberlyra.bsky.social). It is possible to lose entire swaths of technical or scientific prowess—if you dismantle the teams and institutions responsible for them.
