Think it’s finally time to quit Twitter. No point in posting if I’m getting less than 1 impression per follower per week (and even that number is almost certainly fraudulent)

Just got an email from the CEO that started with “I suggest you feed this article into ChatGPT” and ended with a fake Winston Churchill quote.

Perfection. Cinema. 10/10, no notes

What College Students Really Think of Charlie Kirk New data from Generation Lab undercuts Trump’s mythmaking about his murdered ally, who was unquestionably a savvy organizer, even if he wasn’t at all popular on the campuses he loved to visit.

This is fascinating, 94% of college students had heard of Charlie Kirk - and 70% of those who heard of him disagreed with him puck.news/what-college...

something to keep in mind is that everything the right is currently doing to trans people is just what they have wanted for decades to do to gay people; they just can’t get away with doing the latter right now

Let's all to take a deep breath & understand that we have reached the phase in fascism where if they want to declare you a criminal, you are a criminal. You can not magically avoid it, or do exactly the right thing to stay off the list. Fascism must always have enemies, and one day you will be one.

The reason liberals are so eager to give Nazis legitimacy by debating them is that debate gives liberals the opportunity to do their favorite thing in the world: demonstrate that they’re The Smartest Person In The Room

Speech for them not for us.
Violence for us not for them.

Mr. Mamdani must find common ground with the police to avoid the tensions that plagued Mr. de Blasio, said Mitchell Moss, a professor of urban policy at New York University.

Mr. de Blasio tried to bring changes to the department, but he angered the rank and file. He defended a staffer who had ridiculed the police on social media and gave a speech describing how he had warned his biracial son that he could have problems with the police. The tension culminated in a painfully public protest in 2015 by officers who turned their backs on Mr. de Blasio at a police funeral.

“You can’t be mayor of New York without having the support of the Police Department,” Professor Moss said. “De Blasio never recovered from the loss of respect police gave him.”

Mr. de Blasio balanced calls for reform with his choice for commissioner: William Bratton, a well-established leader whose experience running the department in the 1990s comforted many police unions.

This is such a terrible and anti-democratic idea. The mayor of NYC should not need the support of the NYPD. There are pragmatic reasons why the mayor needs to have a working relationship with the police, but the NYPD doesn't get a veto over what voters want. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/08/n...
