I hope I’m wrong, but this is why I fear the Trail Blazers could be as good as gone | Bill Oram Tom Dundon may not necessarily want to move the Trail Blazers, but he strikes me as agnostic to where the team plays.

I am extremely curious to hear what @highkin.bsky.social thinks of this. Feels like a major overreaction from Oram, but maybe that’s wishful thinking.

Feds at Portland ICE facility again deploy chemical agents against protesters The federal response to Sunday protesters was not as immediately severe as the reaction Saturday.

Defund and dismantle ICE. This is state sponsored terrorism.

As our transit system heads towards a financial cliff with legitimate fears of a death spiral, PCEF, who lists transportation as the #1 fossil fuel emitter in Portland, is giving transportation money to housing developers. I have to say, your rubber stamp here is incredibly confusing to me.

30.01.2026 01:58 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

More people need to talk about how PCEF isn’t properly investing in green transportation- they are disproportionately underfunding the biggest source of greenhouse gases in the Portland.

No matter what happens with these funds, this is such an unexpected opportunity to make a positive impact in a dire budget environment.

That said, I’m hoping the $5M Broadway Corridor funding can stay - that project would be transformative in providing long-term, affordable housing downtown.

I’m wary of using PCEF funds but this is a GREAT idea. The potential for transit β€œdoom loop” is very real.

ICE needs to be taken apart, brick by brick, and we need to salt the earth.

The Portland city council meeting was pretty depressing today. Just hour after hour of mudslinging and accusations. Electing the council president could’ve brought council together, but instead it appears more divided than ever.

Not a good first meeting for the new city administrator.

Totally Agree. TKL is just mad that the VP doesn’t have more clear responsibilities in this form of government. I wouldn’t expect any Council President to willingly abdicate their duties now and then just to be nice to the VP.

I’m thankful to have a transit rider on city council. Fingers crossed these painful cuts can be avoided somehow.

Portland: In the absence of leadership on the transit funding crisis, @trimet.org now proposes VERY serious service cuts, with possibly more to come. These are a mixture of some restructuring ideas from our previous work, and some bad losses of frequency. 1/n

The persistent belief that a previous version of Portland was perfect feeds the idea that our best days are behind us. It's inherently conservative, a nostalgic obsession that's little more than a Make Portland Great Again philosophy.

We've gotta define a compelling vision of the future.

This James Beard Award-winning Portland bakery is closing in 9 days But there's hope for a sweet comeback for the beloved bakery, which took home America's most prestigious culinary award earlier this year.

Hopefully Jinju Patisserie finds a new long-term home quickly, they are FANTASTIC and will be missed. #portland

I cannot emphasize enough that affordability has to be our number one focus right now. The number one driver of people living on our streets is the fact that they can't make rent - they can't keep up with the fact that almost everything is more expensive right now.

Portland design review study gets green light The City Council on Wednesday approved a resolution to study possible reforms and a moratorium, aiming to streamline development and boost housing production.

In 2026, I want cranes in the sky. I intend to deliver on Design Review reforms and keep cutting the red tape that has slowed or deterred development in Portland.

Next year is about more development, more jobs, more homes, faster.

Current transportation funding is from gas tax and parking taxes - aka the more the city negates fossil fuels, the less money for transportation. This creates an incentive structure in conflict with the city’s sustainability goals. 2/
